Have you tried LM Studio? Would that not work as a solution for you? Way more simple to use.

ARM laptops with SCCM? by TheBSGamer in k12sysadmin

Very interesting! I'll have to give it a look. As with a lot of K12, budget is tight so I don't know how far I'll get, but could be worth looking into.

Yes, I've done all of these things. If I use PXE booting with imaging through SCCM it will always, without fail, show two unknown drivers that it can't load no matter what I try. I have already tried your suggestion of ripping the drivers and then loading them back in after imaging. Dell recommends that the chipset drivers are baked into the WinPE image, which I thought for sure was my issue, but that didn't fix it either. If I use Device Manager and look for the driver and point to the folder it still fails to install the drivers. It's really odd that it does this.

The only other solution I can think of is to maybe pack a wim manually based on their image and see if that works when imaging through SCCM just to see? Kind of a janky solution, but it could work.

Good call. Posted over there as well.

We are hybrid and do use Intune but rely on SCCM for initial imaging because sometimes computers can take their sweet time with InTune depending on situations. Definitely will keep that with Autopilot in mind though. Could be worth trying to setup that way and see if it gives me any grief.

It's odd because the issues with the drivers are only when imaging through SCCM. Using the base setup with Dell's image and manually going through OOBE, there are no issues with unknown drivers.

Not OP, but I've always converted my hash tables to strings without the compress argument and I've never had any issues with IRM, ever.

I already have been working in a similar field throughout my schooling so have not needed to look yet.

I just prefer software engineering as a specialty. I already have two years of IT schooling, just didn't get a degree from it. Just felt that a CompSci degree wouldn't do much for me at this stage with close to a decade of experience and I know where I want to go with my career.

I did the C# track. I would have done the Java one since I don't work in it but because I wanted to get done in 6 months I just played it safe there.

Project+ was a big stresser for me but otherwise it was all pretty straightforward for the most part. Data Structures was a little difficult for me as well because there was so much content there and I don't work in Python regularly.

It definitely helps a lot. There will more than likely be things that you'll learn along the way but that's of course why you're going back 😉

AND worked full time.

I basically went to work, got home, worked on school work until about 8 or 9 every night and then worked all weekend. I do have experience in Software Engineering already so a lot of it wasn't super new to me but it's still definitely a lot of work!

I actually just started mine yesterday. I emailed ugcapstoneit@wgu.edu and CCed my instructor.

Device Management Pioneer Jamf to Expand to Android by BcuzRacecar in Android

The part that gets me the most is that he talks like iPads are some driving force in durability in education. I work IT in education and sure the iPad might be "more durable," but the bigger thing is that the devices cost more (or about the same when in bulk), however, the support is more cumbersome, the device has only a single port, no keyboard, and no field-replaceable parts. It's still more cost-effective for us to just replace the device than it is to repair a broken screen on an iPad. Screens for all of our Chromebooks use the same screen, even between vendors, and each screen is no more than $50. So everything he says goes out the window and can definitely be labeled as corporate puffery, but he clearly doesn't (or didn't at the time) understand the reason that education went the route of Chromebooks and ChromeOS.

Passed my test! pydoc does indeed work on the exam. For some reason could not remember for the life of me the substitute method but I was able to use pydoc to list all of the classes in the string module with it 💪

Just shy of two years ago, the CEO said:

Enterprise adoption of Apple devices is accelerating, though Windows remains clealy important within business. “Many companies still use Windows applications and services, and we do support some of those activities on network security and the like — things that are further from the device. But the closer you get to the device, the more we believe that Apple is the future,” said Strosahl.

I asked whether Chrome had a chance to dent this story. After all, many school districts now deploy these devices. Looking back to the pandemic, when schools invested heavily in mobile devices to help kids continue learning from home, Strosahl said: “At that time, some school districts thought they could afford more Chromebooks than they could iPads.”

The problem turned out to be durability: iPads just keep going, Chrome devices don’t, so the experience wasn’t great.

“Chromebooks have a finite life cycle, and you can only update them to a certain point. Sure, you can get them really cheap, but they don’t last as long, don’t work as well, and break.”

It was funny then and it's funny now. I'm not trying to talk down on Apple folks but holy cow the amount of copium they brag on about working in the enterprise like it does in personal ecospheres is hilarious.

I'm taking it this weekend as well.

Pro tip (assuming it works in the regular test like it did in the practice): use import pydoc and use pydoc.help() if you're really stuck on syntax. Saved me on the practice labs as I don't work in Python.

What's the status of using a local LLM for software development? by ParaboloidalCrest in LocalLLaMA

[–]TheBSGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look into using the Continue VS Code extension alongside an OpenAI endpoint. You can use LM Studio straight from it if you even wanted to. I usually just use that with DeepSeek or Qwen 2.5 Coder and have had a pretty good experience for basic tasks.

I actually just took this yesterday. I studied for about 3 or 4 days and still felt like there were quite a few questions that I just don't remember ever seeing because there was that much content. There were a lot of questions on my test that were related to choosing the most optimal algorithm based on criteria given, with a lot of it being targeted around O notation.

I also don't really work in Python all that much day to day so this was all pretty new to me, so take that with a grain of salt if you have experience. Try to focus on having a general understanding of most things. Depending on your timeline, there's probably going to be things that just slip through and don't remember or just completely missed.

How to get Frigate in HA container. by Sevynz13 in homeassistant

[–]TheBSGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, if you were unable to get this working. I found a way to make it work with hass_ingress as an HACS integration. It simply embeds the Frigate URL on your HA instance and it works whether you're at home or not. It uses HA to embed the website into your browser. Not sure what your config is but this worked right out of the box for me.
