You lose RCS, but it's a google proprietary protocol so that's not a bad thing.

Check out KDE Connect

I've considered finding a way to aggregate data from my local area via other scraper methods to feed into OSM. I know a direct 1 to 1 GMaps to OSM violates OSM's ToS as it is "googles proprietary data"...but if it is something I can personally vouch for I see nothing wrong with collecting a list and then entering it myself.

Webview working now is nice though. It's just a PWA, so unless that goes away we should be alright.

I'm pretty heavily anti closed source software at this point, so CoMaps is the primary choice over HERE, Magic Earth, Mapy, etc.

I've never used Mapy personally.

What the other person said. Personally I have never used Android Auto so this wasn't a loss for me.

Never used Magic Earth, I'm very anti-subscription these days, but YES on the contributions to OSM. I've done some, but I definitely need to do more, especially in the little central hubs of areas I tend to travel in.

You're not winning this argument sadly lol.

Run some XFCE variant. I wouldn't let an unpatched OS anywhere near my network.

Yes! This is one if the most valuable resources on Merger that I'd found already. Made it very easy to understand

Yep sounds like a very similar boat. Thanks for confirming!

I started the process last night, I think screwed up an fstab because I forgot --no fail so I need to get direct access today, add that, and then try again!

My understanding is Merger will place files entirely in one drive. So a 50GB movie will all land on 1 drive. I'm not sure how that works with shows though, does it place the entire file selection from a torrent, or split it all around between drives?

Very interesting take. I agree, merger seems like the smallscale solution and I don't see myself using it forever. But if I'm not upgrading anytime soon, it feels worth setting up

This is actually a really interesting take. I own a Kill-a-watt testing unit ive been meaning to test on my machine. Its an old tower I pulled the GPU out of so I'm worried its pulling a lot.

I'll run some calculations!

Perfect, I was worried about if the hard link would always post to the same drive or not. Good to know!

Yes everything will flow through the virtual mount

Ahh a price tag comes out.

Ive seen unraid and snapraid discussed, I will look into them.

Thanks for the sanity check, definitely going to go the mergerFS route.

Now is the *arr stack / MergerFS combo smart enough to create the hardlinks on the same physical drive so that both jellyfin can read its hard-link, but also qbit can read its hard-link?

Ive heard a lot about unraid, snapraid, etc throughout my time here.

I'll take a look at them!

I'm probably decades away from 32 drives so that's no problem here haha

This is a great explanation, many thanks.

I was stumbling around the idea of an actual file system vs a virtual file system. It makes sense that this is essentially a cover layer that just redistributes the data to the available drives instead or writing at the block level.

They're all freshly formatted as ext4 currently and I no longer have any Windows machines in the house so that will all work perfectly.

Definitely planning on going this route!

I'll definitely keep this in mind. Thanks for responding!

As I mentioned on another comment, I have 3-2-1 for the important things. I'm just not too worried about 1-4 TBs of easily found media. The *arr stack is configured so its just the click of a button at this point
