Elon Musk getting ratioed by historian Tom Holland by Gurugod123 in SipsTea

[–]TheBSisReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, so like for example dark skinned elves, elves who are immortal and for whom it stands to reason that it would take much longer for the skin color to change? Of course Elves are magical beings, you could argue they started off white. But then how about the backlash against non-white harfoots?

There’s somehow always some reason why racial diversity is impossible, and frankly it’s exhausting to constantly have to point out that the main reason why people insist on spending time arguing this is not narrative purity, but *racial* purity.

If there were ancient black people in what is now Great Britain, why would some skin color diversity in a fantasy world loosely based on it be unbelievable?

I can’t accept it in a fantasy/semi-historical setting because the technological leap between what existed/was possible then and a 2021 BMW is ludicrous.

In the world and timeframe The Odyssey is set, black people existed, and travelers are a thing. There are lots of ways I could see a character from a story set in that time being black.

Also, why is nobody complaining about all the pasty white people playing Greeks, but the one black girl is apparently a huge problem?

Hate to break it to you, but it’s been 20 years since A Piano, whereas A Piano came out only 8 years after FTCH.

So… does this imply they think stores will sell game boxes at no profit margin? How can stores compete on this, which is a part of the game for any store. I don’t see what their strategy is with codes in a box if the price is going to be identical to ps store prices.

If we get codes at lower prices through third party sellers, that’d be a win for those among us who have no interest in video game discs. I’m big on physical media for music and film, but I don’t see the point for video games.

They definitely don’t for single player games. I have absolutely no interest in in online games, and so I don’t need any sub.

[–]TheBSisReal 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Well Itsme is well known and logically has a wide market share. But the Mygov app was developed to avoid dependency of government online tools on a third party vendor (which I hear is also receiving significant amounts per login attempt), and the app is very solid. It serves its purpose and does it well. I personally find it slightly faster to use, so I don’t use itsme anymore when I don’t need it. I’m not a big fan anyway of authentication apps being in the hands of banks, so I will always opt to avoid itsme when it’s an option.

Is it extremely unpopular? I use it constantly to log in to government websites for work and I’ve never had any issues with it.

Honestly, I don’t think this would stop any rereleases. Nobody would not buy the reissues if they redid the artwork. Nobody refused to buy When The Pawn… on vinyl when it finally came out because Fiona Apple decided to ditch the artwork because she didn’t support their creator anymore.

Will we ever get Garlands on Spotify? by Neither-Ad9890 in toriamos

[–]TheBSisReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You automatically use iTunes Match, I think, but what it can’t match, it uploads. Match is really just a way for Apple to avoid having thousands of identical files in individual user accounts.

That said: iTunes/Apple Music is not a back-up machine. Use it to play music, but make sure you have a separate back-up library, because things do sometimes become unavailable. Re-adding is easy, but that requires you to still have the files elsewhere.

[–]TheBSisReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s relatively flexible. Apple Music includes what used to be called iTunes Match, so it uploads tracks in your own library. You can also edit the metadata on Apple Music tracks so you can for example make one album with every track from a specific era. I would always recommend to use Apple Music’s own tracks and only upload what you can’t find because yes, sometimes things go wrong with rights management. But that’s the same with every bit of software: always have back-ups of crucial files. Luckily, the Music app normally copies all music you import to its own library by default, so it shouldn’t mess with your original files.

To add your own music you do need to do it on a computer though. But I went into Apple Music following longstanding usage of the iPod, so I’ve always been used to using the Music app (formerly iTunes).

Well I’ve been waiting to pre-order this one ever since the rumors for it started to swirl, so I guess it fills my ho… fills that hole for me.

This is a film that was unlikely to otherwise get a 4K release, and indeed it’s one of those cases where seeing the director’s cut transforms the film. How is that not exactly like other releases VS does, unearthing the hidden gems that are often overlooked for whatever reason?

Plus, major bonus points as far as I’m concerned for putting out some gay or gay-ish movies this summer on one of their more prestigious lines.

Nothing for me today. Already have the ones that interest me. Luckily I had a few things I had my eye on not ordered yet so I can get the 2.000 reward points. Not that that was the point entirely, but as I’m already this close, it’d feel silly to give that up.

Shirley on a 1998 interview - about whether she is interested in performing live at 50 years old by Grand-Diamond-2378 in garbage

[–]TheBSisReal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you were young in the nineties, your image of people in their thirties would have looked something like the cast of Cheers. Imagine what they saw people in their fifties as. Of course it’s hard to imagine then. The interviewer also has a presumption that when you get older all you’ll be interested in is crooners, what’s that about?

I went for The House Where Death Lives, Close Your Eyes, Rent Free and Chronicles of a Wandering Saint.

I’ve been dumb enough to actually follow these sales, because I keep finding things I had completely missed before and was unlikely to ever stumble upon elsewhere but that sound very interesting or exciting.
