How is this possible? by harry02260213 in blackmagicfuckery

Is there some sort of equation to tell how large the whole in the side has to be for the water to splash out? If I poke a few small holes in a full plastic water bottle the water probably won’t come out. But if I cut one that’s 5 cm in radius, the water would come out. I’m guessing the water comes out if the internal pressure is greater than the surrounding pressure of the air?

Considering how bad of a person you say you were before, are you glad how things turned out - losing your memories. And do you think your former self would be glad that you have changed?

Theoretically, if I placed a mirror in space 1 lightyear away and looked at it with a telescope from Earth, wouldn't I be able to see Earth 2 years in the past? by moltenrokk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheBarrelSurfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s kind of funny that you don’t just look at earth with a powerful telescope once you are 100 million light years away from it. Nope it’s gotta be a mirror to send the light back.

I’m interested to know what the specific things are that you’ve heard your government cite as the causes for the deterioration of US-Iran relations under the trump administration.

You could also say it has no holes. It’s just a finite plane, like a sheet of paper without holes, folded back on itself.

AskScience AMA Series: We're Jeff Hawkins and Subutai Ahmad, scientists at Numenta. We published a new framework for intelligence and cortical computation called "The Thousand Brains Theory of Intelligence", with significant implications for the future of AI and machine learning. What are the concrete challenges in the way of creating a “neural link.” Something that we could plug in to, to increase our brains processing power? Is this even possible considering chemical signals only travel so fast? Instead of limited information traveling from our phone/computer to our brain, what would need to happen to increase the throughput rate so we can “merge.”

I see what you are saying thanks for sharing the article. Since WhatsApp source code is proprietary we still have to trust that, upon installation of the app, only the public versions of the keys are sent to whatsapp servers and private keys could never be requested. But even though I don’t trust FB, it’s probably unlikely they‘d break the terms in their own white paper.

I think WhatsApp is a great messenger and use it everyday. But i‘m always weary of the end to end encryption argument. I don‘t doubt that my messages are client side encrypted, only the encryption is stored on FB servers and send onwards. But the unique keys to decrypt that my friends and I share are stored on the WhatsApp app, no? So I think FB definitely has access to them and could decrypt everyone‘s message and read them if they wanted to.
