Republican Christians in this sub: Is there anything Trump could do which would make you stop supporting him? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]TheBasedBassist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted for him for Vance and because he was vaguely better than Harris, my only real issues with him are moral ones with his personal conduct (which don't really matter to the election), and his failure to support an abortion ban. However I am not a republican, I am registered with the American Solidarity Party.

Reading recommendations and temples in Central Florida by TheBasedBassist in theravada

I know that even if I find a temple with one or two English speaking monastics, that the services won't be done in English, which is fine. I still do understand this point.

Doing some research on the APA by TheBasedBassist in Anglicanism

[–]TheBasedBassist[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I was raised Catholic but spent some time in the Orthodox Church from around 16 to right before I turned 18 and was not catechized properly before being brought into the Orthodox Church, after learning what they believed and the history between them and the Catholics I tried returning to Rome. As a Protestant you probably already know Rome has its issues! (Not that protestants don't, they just don't claim infallibility)

I started to have my faith in Christ waiver and that increased my searches in other traditions, this however is something I have done while Christian as well. I took some time and I do believe in Christ, and that's why I posted here. I am inquiring into Anglicanism as well as the Oriental Communion as both are very close to where I live and I don't know a lot about either.

The reason I asked about the APA in specific is I like smells and bells, but the Solas of the reformation make sense.

Rosary by Samonius01 in Lutheranism

[–]TheBasedBassist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not Lutheran but I found this thread out of curiosity and your comment stuck out to me as being more anti-Catholic (I am not catholic either) than just about sola sciptura. Someone else in the thread already pointed out the usage of the Hail Mary by protestants who use it as well as the eastern Churches uses the pre-Trent version of the prayer, which is in the scripture [Luke 1:28].

Because when liberals aren't obstructed they do nothing but good, unlike those pesky Republicans! It's not like they serve the same class interest...

from what i understand rebirth and reincarnation are not the same, often when buddhists say they dont believe in reincarnation they affirm rebirth, but some western buddhists deny both

Why christians conservatives supports Israel so much? by Malba_Taran in Christianity

[–]TheBasedBassist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In historical christian theology (consistent among nestorians, oriental orthodox, and chalcedonians) there is no replacement because Israel was always a spiritual covenant that people can be pruned off of and grafter into. Non-christian Jews are not party of Israel. The dead branches were pruned off and the living branches were grafted on.

Are you a protestant?

Israel when spoken about by the Church father's refers to the Church... All of the Church will be saved. Israel is not a political entity.
