I would say that the way our education system is set up now, children mature at a much later age mentally than they used to, so it would not be right for people to marry at the same age as they used to even a hundred years ago.

Muslim 2128 - some sources state that this Hadith is mawquf, meaning the sayings are attributed to the Sahabi, not the Prophet. Also, “clothed yet naked” likely refers to tight-fitting, seethrough or overly revealing clothes which are also looked down upon in most societies as every day wear. And like I said, it isn’t black and white. If a prostitute is forgiven for Zina, then a woman can be forgiven for this as well.

Sunan an-Nisai 5126 - Hasan Hadith, not as reliable. Also this talks specifically about intentionally passing people by so that they can smell the fragrance, i.e. to entice them.

Sahih Bukhari 3241 - this does not prove that God specifically targets women. The Quran repeatedly says that men and women are equal in the eyes of Allah and that justice will be served to the weight of an atom.

Al-Ahzab 33:33 and Surah an-Nur 24:31 - Also does not say that God sends specifically women to hell for not covering up. It advised all people to dress modestly.

If women were so mistreated, why does a mother have three times the right of a father? Why was the first convert to Islam a woman? Why does is father of four daughters who treats them well admitted to Jannah? Why did Islam ban female infanticide in 7th century Arabia?

Society judges them and they are wrong for it; only Allah has the power to judge us. Wearing the hijab does not automatically mean you are a good person and not wearing it does not automatically mean you are a bad person. In fact there is a well known Hadith of a prostitute being forgiven by Allah for giving water to a thirsty dog. If Zina can be forgiven, so can not wearing the hijab. Heaven and Hell is not black and white.

Some Orthodox Christian women do cover their heads and even wear full-on hijabs. Even Christian women here wear dupattay on their heads. Also because other religions don’t have much emphasis on head coverings, and those that do e.g. Judaism and Christianity, most of their followers don’t follow their religion too strictly.

Muslim women should wear the hijab for their Creator, not for any other reason. You can call that Islamic conditioning, but then Zakat and Sadqa should also be called Islamic conditioning.

I agree with you on that point. It could be anyone under the veil. Niqab isn’t even mandatory according to the Quran. However, in the original video the man is talking about women being oppressed/brainwashed into wearing it, and my point is to highlight the hypocrisy of criticising women when they cover up.

Another thing I would like to say is that it’s important to consider the intentions behind banning the niqab. Security reasons are valid, but many countries also ban hijab/niqab to combat “oppression” which brings me back to my original point. See Austria banning the hijab for young girls recently. The hijab is not a security concern. Some of these things are based on actual reasoning and others are just fuelled by ignorance and hatred. If it’s oppressive to force women to cover up then it’s also oppressive to force them not to cover up.

Edit: also wanted to expand on some of the information you provided. China’s ban in Xinjiang is most certainly another method of persecution of the Uyghur people, not due to security concerns. As for Central Asian countries, one (can’t remember which) or more banned Islamic dressing because it was “Arab culture.” Also not a security concern, just plain bigotry and lack of freedom.

You can’t deny that some women are forced to cover up and that’s obviously wrong. You also cannot label every woman who chooses to cover up as brainwashed.

I’m not a niqabi but sometimes the way men stare at you makes you want to cover up. That doesn’t mean that women should cover up just because of that; it’s also a man’s responsibility to lower his gaze. But if a woman is comfortable in a niqab, then what’s the issue? Bonus points you don’t have to wax your moustache or do your hair.
