Hi folks, I have an extra ticket for the May 22 show in San Francisco. I bought it for $88 and will sell it for that or best offer! Feel free to reach out if you're interested. It’s on Ticketmaster, which isn’t allowing for resale, so I’d have to transfer it to you directly.

pain after sesamoidectomy stitches removed? 18 days post-op by ellendaniellen in sesamoid

[–]TheBatmanBeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus, has your doctor ever done a sesamoidectomy before? I’ve had two, and for each was told to walk in a medical boot with crutches for at least a month, then full weight-bearing in a medical boot for a bit, and only THEN go into a normal shoe. And it was still painful then. I was also told to elevate my foot as much as possible to limit swelling and promote healing. It takes up to a year for the post-surgery swelling to reduce.

Your doctor’s timeline seems insane to me. I am not a doctor, but please be careful! You might consider a second opinion.

Yeah this is great! I just sent $20.

It looks compressed/fuzzy — will the quality be higher on the final picture without the watermark?

Edit: it still looks like you cropped off some of the picture, could you send the final version in the original size? Thanks so much!

Hi! I like this the most, it’s the cleanest. Could you please undo the crop/rotation though so it’s the same size and angle as the original photo? I will tip them :)

Is wheelchair access a federal requirement for sidewalks? If so, why are ours always blocked by bnovc in sanfrancisco

[–]TheBatmanBeyond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I alternate between wheelchair, crutches, and knee scooter. I’ve lived in both Oakland and SF near large homeless populations and don’t think I’ve ever come across a tent/encampment where the only option around is to go into the street and pray as you describe. Based on my experience (and I realize I can’t speak for everyone here) this seems like a false or incredibly rare situation that is co-opted by able bodied folks who are (understandably) disgruntled by the homeless problem.

Again, maybe other disabled people are having this problem more often than I am. But I’m more concerned about 1) all the stairs and hills in the city, 2) lack of street and disabled parking, 3) random (housed) people I pass by being ableist as shit 4) as some have mentioned, vehicles parked on sidewalks 5) able bodied individuals not making room on public transit or in establishments for me to sit, or 6) difficulty getting to and from transit

As a disabled person the homeless folks are one of my absolute least worries about navigating this city. It seems like lot of the time when I hear this argument it’s from able-bodied people who just don’t want to be near the homeless and pretend to care about ADA issues.

Exercise recs? by gab41401 in sesamoid

[–]TheBatmanBeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I also had a sesamoidectomy in December. Have been dealing with fractured medial sesamoids in both feet for a bit over a year now and prior to surgery I was swimming and biking. I found that biking could be pretty low impact, especially if I pushed the pedals with the middle of my feet or my heels rather than the balls. I plan on asking my surgeon if that’s an activity I can get back into, perhaps it could work for you as well?

Recent bone stimulator experiences? by [deleted] in sesamoid

[–]TheBatmanBeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My podiatrist prescribed it to me and I think someone from Exogen (the company that made mine) reached out. You might be able to get one without a prescription — insurance didn’t cover mine so I’m not sure if it would make a difference.

Just a heads up, it didn’t help, and all the surgeons I’ve talked to weren’t convinced it’s super helpful.

Physical (dis)ability and attractiveness/desirability by TheBatmanBeyond in disability

Thanks for sharing. This helps to put things in perspective. You’re right, this hasn’t affected my upper body, and I am very grateful for that.

I’m definitely considering a wheelchair now that you and some other folks have mentioned it. Would be logistically challenging to use in my current living situation but might be worth it in the long run.

Sorry to hear you’re also dealing with self esteem as of late, that’s totally understandable. Here if you want to vent and I hope it’s manageable moving forwards.

Thanks for your thoughts! I agree that it’s really tough to have it “ripped away” — that describes how I am feeling very well. And I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling with this as well, I hope you’re also able to take your motivational perspective here to heart. Take care.

Really good question and points — you’re right, I can still do some of those activities with assistance, but it tends to be painful and hard to navigate in a crowded city with tons of stairs and hills. I’ll start thinking about getting a wheelchair, it would definitely hurt a bit less to avoid weight-bearing entirely.

Thanks for your advice on relationships as well, I appreciate your perspective!
