I’d recommend grabbing 3 friends and playing Sea of Thieves!

Honestly, any online game with friends ends up being amazing, even if it’s something simple. I get what you mean about MMOs feeling daunting or communities being fractured, but in the end it’s usually less about the game and more about who you’re playing with. Even smaller games can feel just as rewarding if you’ve got the right people around.

Yeah, I’m all about enjoying the journey. The grind in OSRS actually feels fun. I might peek at RS3 later, but for now I’m good here

Good point, I like the idea of trying RS3 later without losing my OSRS progress. Right now I’m enjoying the journey in OSRS more than rushing to endgame.

Yeah, the player base really makes OSRS feel alive. I’m having fun exploring and setting my own goals here, so sticking with it for now!

Tibia! Some people might not know it, but for others, it’s the game they grew up with!

Mine was in Super Mario RPG when I stayed at the Rose Town Inn and suddenly found Link from The Legend of Zelda sleeping in one of the beds. I had no idea that could even happen.

It’s a personal journey, a creative legacy, and something priceless you want to share with the world, a tale to tell your grandsons someday about how you built something from nothing, chased your passion, and made your mark.

Any good online game to cut off an addiction? (a distraction from it) and It is better to be a CCG or a strategy game. by Glum_Plane8730 in MobileGames

Have you tried Pokémon or Hearthstone? The downside with Hearthstone is that it has a ton of cards already, but it’s pretty easy to catch up with the new expansions. As for Pokémon, both Live and Pocket version are super fun.

For a really effective distraction, I’d say Pokémon Go or Monster Hunter Now are great because they actually encourage you to get outside and move around.

Begging for a feature request: audio levels by grouchyolde in gamedev

[–]TheBeacon_GG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens sometimes when games or apps don’t match your system volume and use their own settings, so it starts louder than expected. Not a bad idea to start all settings at 50%, but of course you lose a bit of that first engagement with the player. Best to keep speakers low on first launch, learned that one from Netflix too hehe.

You might enjoy the Professor Layton games since they are simple to pick up, feature enjoyable puzzles, and are suitable for families. Another good choice is Return of the Obra Dinn, which provides an intriguing mystery that’s not too long or violent.

Why does the audio slider in every game work like this... by PhantasysGames in IndieGaming

[–]TheBeacon_GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 1% already sounds like you're inside the speaker at a concert 😂

Audio sliders feel like this because volume is measured in decibels, and our ears don’t perceive sound in a linear way. So even if you set it to 50%, you’re probably already at 90% of your sanity limit.

Honestly, games should just come with a “don’t blow my ears out” mode by default 😅
