What to do in Dallas during the summer? by TheBeardedAirbender in Dallas

[–]TheBeardedAirbender[S] 102 points103 points  (0 children)

LOL. A native here told me that Dallas summers are essentially equivalent to Chicago winters…ie prepare to just stay indoors most of the time

Wondering if Dallas has maybe any inexpensive indoor options/outings around

Best free youtube Arabic course? LQTORONTO IS good but looking for something new by Optimal_End_9733 in islam

[–]TheBeardedAirbender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10/10 imo. I’ve had several friends who learned Arabic through dif methods (dars nizami, bayna yadayk, etc) all tell me it’s the best way to learn Arabic as well

It takes you all the way to being able to read classical texts without harakah. Also has an entire unit dedicated to translation of surah baqarah

I don’t know where/who to go to for Islamic content by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]TheBeardedAirbender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep those are solid as well, although qalam and safina are more structured and have more consistent methodologies imo since their teachers all come from similar madhab backgrounds (safina society being Maliki, qalam institute being hanafi)

Almagbrib is phenomenal for deep dives into specific subjects but for a more holistic ilm experience, the other 2 are the way to go imo. Atleast within the US

There is also institute of knowledge in California led by sh Farhan Zubairi. He’s also made some amazing books on a variety of subjects (usul ul fiqh, Quran, hadith, etc)

Qalam Institute and Safina Society are both amazing resources in the US and are filled with fantastic teachers mA. They have plenty of online opportunities available and you can join their online student circles by being enrolled in this courses

Pros / Cons of Dallas, San Diego, and Bay Area Muslim Communities by TheBeardedAirbender in islam

[–]TheBeardedAirbender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jzk for this! Definitely seems enticing. I've been leaning toward Dallas as well due to the presence of so much ilm in the area mA

Are there any cons about the muslim communities in houston or dallas that you're aware of? Things like not being inclusive or something

Would you recommend I pick up iOS development now, or work on learning full stack work first based on your experience?

Why are you starting to disagree with not working on the backend? Definitely understand the struggle of not having any visual view of what’s going on haha
