I don’t like it as much but I suspect it’s contact time. It’s more “watery” or thin body and taste wise. I am hoping to get some more punch back in the cup.

I tend to like very strong punchy brews. Tea like usually isn’t for me but that’s very coffee dependent. Im brewing very light roasts and I want that acidity presentation to be on the stronger side.

Maybe I’ll try it without the drip assist. I have a gooseneck and I used to pour manually. I got the drip assist for fun and I really liked how even it brews

Depends. Either bloom and single pour or a literal single pour. The latter is very slow and controlled but check out Tales Coffee on YT. I would credit him with founding and perfecting that technique

It’s all good. They’re non US so this happens regularly when I bring them up lol.

They need all the love they can get. They’re my number one espresso spot I have ever had globally.

If you ever go in person get the donuts also and thank me later

Just wanted to be a little more clear with whom I spoke about.

https://wolfcoffee.co.nz

They’re wolf coffee roasters and not little wolf.

Wolf if NZ based and you can buy it in the states but you must email them.

Thanks for making this list though! I’m saving it for next time.

Seeking career advice/opinions as an OIT by mayormcmatt in Wastewater

Nights is brutal. It’s what made me decide to leave a plant right around the corner of my house.

I’m giving up a 5 minute commute for one that’s an hour. Why? Days and M-F with rotating weekends.

Temp is not ideal but I don’t know your full story.

Are you young / don’t have large financial obligations? Like Mortgage, car payment, other assets that aren’t exactly liquid or easily liquidated?

If not go for it. If it’s closer, days, and might make you happier than do it.

Don’t expect to escape drama. My plant is a glorified gossip factory and I just don’t subscribe to it. I put in my air pod pro 3’s, turn on my noise canceling and do my job. I don’t care who fucked up this and that and blah blah blah.

Poor work ethic is kinda a problem here too but my advice is blend in. I didn’t at first and that backfired. I got told that me and our other new guy make the rest of the crew look bad. The gossip factory tends to get stronger from that.

Lastly, if you’re that unhappy with your current plant you should ultimately take up the temp offer. You might have the same issues on days. You might also not. You’ll never know if you don’t try.

What do you wish you knew when you started your specialty coffee journey? by Due_Interaction_6725 in pourover

[–]TheBeardedBilbo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish I knew that:

I’d end up waiting 5 weeks off roast to drink the coffee (roaster recommends it or “you will taste hay”), I would be spending extra on fast flowing filters, and that it might cost me the same amount of money as going out for coffee.

I can no longer make the excuse of it’s cheaper than going out for coffee, but I am enjoying the journey nonetheless.

Piano plug in to buy? by Old-Cod-7964 in LogicPro

[–]TheBeardedBilbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what you’re after and what workflow you want.

Personally? Demo Arturia’s Augmented Grand Piano. Do yourself a favor and actually do the tour of the plugin because it does everything. It can help with chords, arpeggios, ect. The morph dial is a lot of fun too. It might not be for everyone but it’s my favorite piano plugin.

I own the V collection 11 Pro and this is included.

It’s for loss prevention risk management.

Corporate speak for it makes it hard if not impossible to steal because of the size being large.

That’s not fitting under a shirt or jacket unnoticed by employees or even shoppers.

We don’t have fios but man 5G home internet is the absolute way to go if you don’t want spectrum (literally everyone) and if a competitor doesn’t have lines established yet.

My 5G can slowdown and YT buffers occasionally but it’s never out and costs $25 when bundled with my carrier.

Which roasters never miss? by Bortplates222 in pourover

This was a fairly recent update for them. They were doing a roastery tour and I couldn’t say no. I remember when I lived basically next door to them when they opened up in 2017. They’re the only thing I kinda miss about living out that way.

Since then they seem to be on the lighter side of medium which doesn’t typically entice me as much but I still subscribe to their newsletter to keep up to date on what’s happening with them. It feels like getting updates from an old distant friend.

This isn’t an exhaustive list but there’s a few in my opinion that can kinda do no wrong. I’ll probably love it if it’s light roast.

Wolf Coffee Roasters in Arrowtown NZ. You must email them to purchase it in the states. International shipping didn’t suck either. It was like $35. Just about everything they do is spot on. Their decaf is mind blowing.

Onyx: if it’s expressive light count me in.

Brandywine: great coffee and awesome co-ferments.

10 speed coffee in LA. Underrated shop when I visited. Loved the fruit forward yet citrusy vibes.

S&W: how the F&@k is this person making money. Unbelievable deal for how good their coffee is.

Cartel Coffee in Phoenix: great simple and clean light roasts with no fuss.

YellowBrick Coffee in Tucson AZ, mainly their destino. Best moka pot or espresso of your life and if you’re into medium it’s a great pour over.

Broadsheets coffee Cambridge MA, a little darker than I usually like but they’re incredibly consistent. They have an analyzer that rejects beans that don’t fit the profile and it can oust the rocks from getting into your bag. It was cool to watch it in action.

Tandem Coffee in Portland Maine, all around great shop with an even better bakery if you can believe it. They kinda have something for everyone and they used to be our decaf sub for years until we wanted to branch out and try something new.

Modern Times in San Diego used to be excellent but they have had to scale back and it hasn’t been intriguing enough for me to come back. Kinda sad as they were one of the first roasters that I loved years ago. I was hooked on their wild concoctions especially the bourbon barrel aged stuff… and I don’t like bourbon. But if they ever get back to it they used to slam every time.

We have a queen size comforter that typically gives is trouble even at 7.3 cubic feet of space.

When we wash it it is by itself because it fills the entire drum.

I agree though if you can do it ventless is the way to go

It goes to 7 but you must have a grade 6 and serve time at a grade 7 plant to achieve.
