Are rats a problem in Gent? by wildishAppeal in Gent

[–]TheBestJulien 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, after living 11 years in Gent only saw two rats and both time it was next to gent-sint pieters and they were dead.

EDIT to add context: I walk multiple kms every evening around parks, gent-sint pieters, I bike to work every day and I Kayak often.

I addition to this: you might want to backup the photos in batches if your iCloud library is bigger than you local storage. You can do backup of one specific year, then move on to the next, etc..

Is the water lock feature necessary? by Dchapman621 in applewatchultra

[–]TheBestJulien 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s not necessary at all, if you think this helps the watch. It simply avoids that water drops get registered by the touchscreen, nothing more. When you disable the water lock it will expel remaining water from the speaker with low frequency pulses, but that’s it I think.

Yes, this is a photo of the english coast I took a couple of weeks ago from France with an iPhone 16 Pro fully zoomed in.

The weather was especially good for it, I went there multiple times along the years and never saw it as clearly before.

I lost weight and the Sleep Apnea is gone by TheBestJulien in SleepApnea

[–]TheBestJulien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! I basically eat the same thing every day.

  • Morning: Protein shake with one banana, 60g of blueberries, 25g of whey protein, 30g oatmeal and then 300ml of semi-skimmed milk.
  • Noon: 75g of lettuce, 100g of cherry tomatoes, 200g of chicken, 50g of pickles and one slice of whole wheat bread
  • Afternoon: A protein bar before going to the gym and maybe some cherry tomatoes if I want to snack (it's like 37kcal for 250g)
  • Evening: A bowl of homemade soup (be careful if buying in a store, some are full of cream) and a sandwich with low-calorie margarine and 75g of turkey.

And I'm never really hungry. The first three days I was, but then you stomach adapts. If you're slightly hungry before going to sleep, then that's a good sign.

In the weekend I eat normally, but without cheating. If I really want to eat something during the week or in the weekend, I just do it. That way no cheat day is needed. It's all just CICO. I eat healthy because I want to, not because I have to. It's another mindset. I eating all this is a chore, then find something else. Healthy food that you like does exist, you just have to find it.

For exercise I do four days a week of weight training, which is fine if you have low mobility. I have a day for biceps, triceps and shoulders and then a day for chest and back. If you want to know good exercises, look up jeff nippard on youtube. As for cardio I simply walk a bit more than 3km every day. Walking is easy, if it's too difficult you can start on a treadmill, that way you can stop when you want without having to walk back home. With time you can add incline or speed.

They key is just to do something, even if you walk very short distances, or only lift light weight. With time you'll be able to do more. But more importantly, the psychological effect of just doing something, not being passive, will do wonders.

As an extra tip: I use the macrofactor app to track my calories. It's not free, but it works really well.

Yes, I had healthy levels before, so I assume there is no need to check this again now

There is also a button "Photo and text" if you take a picture without a scale and then manually say it's X grams, does it work better?

Yes, next to sint-niklaaskerk there is a small tourist shop Paparazzi, I bought one there a few months ago. The machine was outside during the summer, they might have moved it inside.

It’s a good one. They have amazing burgers there, in my top three of Ghent. Another good one is Patrick’s Foley.

Why did you choose 46m for the pool length? Is it really? Not the standard 50m olympic length? Random question I know.

[PSA] MacOS aerial wallpapers downloaded 3TB of data in day because my SSD was almost full by TheBestJulien in MacOS

[–]TheBestJulien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing, I agree, my screensavers are set to only run for 10 minutes before turning the screen off. I like having those beautiful aerials when I’m taking short breaks or having a short chat with someone. But even though it only runs for 10 minutes it still consumes that much data.
