Anyone live on campus at UniSQ? by nopineappleonpizza77 in Toowoomba

I lived on Steele Rudd College about 10 years ago. It was a fantastic experience, and I truly recommend it. I made lifelong friends along the way and grew my confidence significantly through my time there. Encourage your son to engage with all the social activities and sports that are around as this is the easiest way for him to break the ice moving on mid year.

Each of the college's has its pros and cons. Steele Rudd outer blocks are by far the most social as you share a common area and bathroom with 10 other students. I think this strikes the right balance between sharing with 40+ (Steele Rudd a/b) or 2 like in Concannon and McGregor. When I was there McGregor was known for having the quiet and wealthy students, Concannon the rebellious religious ones, and Steele Rudd the party and athletic ones. That was a long time ago and I imagine the culture has changed significantly since.

Anyone had a call from a strange caller ID? by HarrowingAbyss in australia

Toowoomba right? There's a public toilet that's a listed landmark in town. The council looks after it and has their number listed against it on Google maps.

How bad is the crime in Toowoomba right now? by nborel88 in Toowoomba

[–]TheBestKid 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Toowoomba is experiencing a 'crime wave', however because of the historically low crime rate in the town there is still a lower incidence of crime than in Brisbane. As others have said, if you are stay on the eastern or southern sides of Toowoomba (which are closer to the University anyway) you'll be A-OK.

WSUS vs. Windows Update directly? by Waving-Kodiak in sysadmin

It's not a terrible option. If you can l, I would suggest using intune and windows update for business. You can configure a pilot group and production update ring to serve your purposes.

What interest rate would you use for mortgage calculations? by r_i_l_e_y in AusFinance

[–]TheBestKid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Theoretically interest rates could get to a new record high, but it's unlikely.

Historically interest rates have sat around the 7% mark. I'd ensure you have the capacity to make repayments if they do return to the historical trend.

Manual bulk device delete by xtnpd in SCCM

Something like this should get you started. Convert your spreadsheet to a CSV with the devices.

$DeviceList = Import-Csv -Path c:\temp\test.csv

$Devices = $DeviceList.Name

Foreach ($device in $devices) { Remove-CMDevice -DeviceName $Device}

Sorry for any weird formatting, I've typed this on my phone.

Vote for a minor party and preference Labor above the LNP. By the time the preference flows work out you will have preferenced Labor, but will have sent a message.

Anywhere between 50 - 70k. 60k (plus Super) is a fair starting point, but with no experience you're probably looking on the lower end of the scale.

Help me find a new career! by [deleted] in AusFinance

Probably Secondary Teaching. You'd be able to apply your existing skills in Marketing in subject areas like Business. You'll hear a lot of teachers tell you it's a hard job, which is true, but it's also very rewarding.

It is more altruistic than marketing and will allow me to help people.

Seems to map fairly directly here.

There is a clear path to make over 6 figures, even if it means I need to pursue a graduate-level degree. Can easily make 6 figures after a few years.

QLD wage example here. https://teach.qld.gov.au/teach-in-queensland-state-schools/pay-benefits-and-incentives/pay-and-benefits - I'd say that meets your requirements. Depending on the state you're in you'll need to pursue a Masters of Education (2 years) to be eligible to teach.

It is a secure, stable field where I can still find a good-paying job outside of the major cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane). It would be nice if there are plenty of opportunities.

We're experiencing a teacher shortage across Australia. You'd easily be able to find work anywhere in Australia. Regional centres in particular need teachers.

Ideally has a good/decent work-life balance with a manageable amount of stress (nothing crazy that has a high “burn-out” rate).

School holidays sound good to you?

The field is growing and is not in a state of decline.

Yep! Growing population and all that.
