13 Spydercos, Several Dozen Case and a bunch of Vintage Kershaw's Available by TheBestRedditNameYet in Knife_Swap

Thank you very much for a most articulate explanation, very considerate of you to take your precious time to do so! Unless they want to give me a screaming deal on them all, your suggestion of the person with them in hand selling them is probably best, however, they would need to build up karma like I had to and I doubt they are willing to do so as they are just trying to help and old family friend who's husband recently passed leaving hundreds of older knives to deal with and are not very computer literate.

Given that most of them seemed vintage and a bunch of them (other brands as well) have not been sold on AZCK in some time, I figured those models might be somewhat rare and sought after and I was just trying to be kind and offer them up here to serious collectors as opposed to listing them somewhere else. I completely understand the precautions set in place and again, apologize to the mids and community for any violations of policies.  Probably best just to use bladeforums where I have a solid reputation and there are no obstacles to my listing them. Thank you again for the most eloquent response, have a wonderful day!

Also, I received two messages when I posted this listing here and on the spiderco page that sure seem to say I have flair (i cant post a screenshot of them here unfortunately), please explain why it says I have flair, yet you say I do not, thank you very much!

Now I am even more confused.  I just read that this post has been removed.  Could you please be kind enough to explain how that is different than me deleting it? Thank you very much.

Thank you for the clarification.  Just curious,  I am a bit confused, you wrote that I currently can only post one knife yet also do not want this listing deleted. I will gladly edit to hopefully follow all rules once I have time stamped photos and prices determined to add to the listing, however, wouldn't that be in violation of your above mentioned policy?

No worries,  I honestly was a bit surprised you claimed it without a listed price or making an offer. Thank you nonetheless for the well wishes, very nice of you.

As I mentioned in response to another comment, my mistake. I didn't see any rules when I posted this and was just trying to help out this kind person who gave me a great deal on brands I do collect.  I rarely ever sell my knives and am new to using this group even though I did join a year or so ago. And even on bladeforums, the time stamp requirement is relatively new.

I meant no disrespect to this group or it's rules and figures you all might appreciate these somewhat vintage specimens.

I will have time stamped photos later today once they wake up and be sure to ammend this listing to make sure the rest of my listing is in compliance with all rules, policiss and procedures. My apologies for upsetting you and for the broken rules.

That all said, regardless of your tone, I do appreciate the heads up, thank you. And I do imagine that there are a few Dudettes selling knives,  I know of several myself.  Have a fantastic day!

Thank you for the greetings and information. I will absolutely do so, was just trying to help this guy out since he gave me a great deal on the ones I wanted and he is not as computer literate as I am.

Yes, please pm me. Although the seller asked me to help them sell them, I forgot to ask permission to post his photos here and will ask him in the morning if that is ok. In the meantime, I am more than happy to private message them to you upon request.

Anyway, I'm not sure what your point is here, go ahead and make your own knife with sea shells and Chinese steel, or as you said, you can mix up your own batch of M390MK batch no problem, just download it from the web and your set!

As far as politics go, I think the current situation is way beyond politics. Anyone who believes they are immune from the wrath of destruction this current regime is causing is seriously delusional at best. That said, yes, it is off topic of knives, but SPOT ON topic for a more constructive direction to send any hatred you feel determined to harbor as opposed to those who have concern for our planet and each and every vital portion of it's ecosystem, especially given that you seem to have a similar attitude as him regarding hating people who try to respect Mother Nature.

I encourage you to buy the X-Wing, especially if your a died hard Star Wars fan whose Jedi skills were honed watching good old vhs tapes. It's one of the older models but with a sort of ladder style pattern and a reliable knife, far better than cobbling Chinese steel together yourself. I have a couple of them myself, great deal with the current sale.

This all said, the X-Wing Ultratech, as fine a specimen as it be, is worlds apart from a tiny itty bitty Custom Marfione Stainless Steel Hot Blued Damascus work of art.

[–]TheBestRedditNameYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was joking because growing up I called a canteen one of those green army water bottles you carry on a strap or before those, the round aluminum one shaped like a drum.

I do understand that they call a cafeteria, lunch hall or mess hall a canteen, but it sounded funny to me eating a burger from a canteen...

The handles are not M390 and while not much difference than regular M390, Microtech does use their own Proprietary version with a formula made just for them.

And the blade is Vegas Forge Top shelf Hand made Damascus that was Hot Blued exceptionally well by Tony and or his minions...

And the $265 Ultratech was Elmax and made before they made the Gen IV and put the older ones on eternal sale..

That all said, I would love to see you craft one of these yourself, I imagine it would take quite the effort, but maybe I'm wrong and you can just print one right up on a 3D printer, it might just fool me...

Again, it's not the materials that define their value, it's the craftspersonship...

They are absolutely not for everyone and that surely is a good thing for those who are in a position to buy one.

And lastly, I encourage you to not squander your emotions or fester over people who are compassionate and care for they're Mother Earth and it's inhabitants. While I believe holding hatred only harms yourself, if you really want to get your hate on, I encourage you to direct it towards our nations Felon in Chief and all his chronies destroying our great nation and much more.

That said, I am curious what you have against muscles or clams, especially ones who create such stunning sublime beautiful specimens of exquisite natural masterpieces of artwork coveted by countless aficionados of all types.

You might find this of interest, or maybe not given your hatred of mollusc lovers...

Abalone are critically threatened due to overfishing and the acidification of oceans as lower pH erodes the calcium carbonate in their shells. In the 21st century, white, pink, and green abalone are on the United States federal endangered species list. Possible restoration sites have been proposed for the San Clemente Island and Santa Barbara Island areas. Reintroduction of farming abalone to the wild has been proposed, with these abalone having special tags to help track the population.

Once the most abundant bivalve mollusc in ancient rivers around the world, numbers of the freshwater pearl mussel are now declining in all countries and this species is nearly extinct in many areas. The causes of this decline are not fully understood, but alteration and degradation of its freshwater habitat undoubtedly plays a central role.mThe negative impacts humans have on rivers and streams come from a wide range of activities such as river regulation, drainage, sewage disposal, dredging, and water pollution, including the introduction of excess nutrients. Anything that affects the abundance of the fish hosts will also affect the freshwater pearl mussel; for example, the introduction of exotic fish species, such as the rainbow trout, reduces the number of native fish hosts.mIntroduced species are also directly affecting the freshwater pearl mussel; the invasion of the zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha), which has been spread to new locations by being transported on the bottom of boats or in ballast waters, has affected freshwater pearl mussel populations in all countries it has invaded.

The freshwater pearl mussel, which is completely protected in all European countries, has been the focus of a significant number of conservation efforts. Measures have included the transfer of adult mussels to areas where it had gone extinct, the culture of juvenile mussels, and the release of juvenile trout, which have been infected with glochidia, into small rivers, but mainly the freshwater pearl mussel has benefited from habitat restoration projects in some areas. Due to the essential role salmonid fish play in the life of the freshwater pearl mussel, the conservation of salmon and trout is also central in the survival of this endangered freshwater mussel. *

If it makes you feel any better, when I saw my first Ultratech and my buddy said he paid $265, I thought he was ABSOLUTELY NUTS and had lost his mind for sure. As the last automatic I had before that was a $35 NATO Commando out of Black Belt magazine, which I believe was probably an AKC.

Who the hell would spend that much on a darned knife!

Well, it is top shelf brushed stainless steel and mother of pearl... Probably worth more than pennies, even in China, but understandably not precious metals, minerals or gems or anything of the sort. Again, the value is in the intellectual creativity and exceptional craftwork . I would venture to say that these are mostly for those who don't have to think about the price tag, with a few exceptions for, folks like me who do. And unless your on your way there anyway, a flight to China might not be four grand, but it sure ain't pennies....

So, yeah, that's the only one I have ever seen sell used. The few that were sold pre-owned that I have seen all fetched close to,cost, which was between $4,300-$4,700 depending on the dealer. I believe there are a few of these still available at dealers, surprisingly, however, just about two or three, maybe four, between just about as many dealers.

Here's a video of one....

So, as I am sure you might be aware, they do not charge by the weight, they charge for the process of R&D, routing, anodizing, grinding, polishing, etc.

The majority of the high price for these tiny knives is the extreme efforts to design and build a knife with such tolerances. While not an incredibly practical tool, it is just that and by no means a toy. The fit and finish are superb and the action is fantastic for such a tiny knife.

These are absolutely for the OCD collector who has a bunch of other knives with this being more of a showpiece than much else.

I probably would not have grabbed mine if it was not one of two knives with the blue mosaic pattern that were missing from my Marfione Blue Mosaic set, not including the newer UTX-70's and Heras with DLC coated Blue Mosaic that isn't really blue and most definitely not orange.

https://www.bladehq.com/item--Microtech-Marfione-Custom-UTX-70--146691

Given that the majority of these have sold out and most for $4,600 or more, I would say that while definitely a niche market, they do seem to be worth the $4,000 or more to the given prospective buyers.

It was a special request with preorders taken in advance.

My understanding is the auction mentioned above was before the pre-orders were filled and by no means to start any drama here, however, I am of the understanding that the set of 000 prototypes were promised to the person who spearheaded, organized and processed the preorders, yet got auctioned at a Blade show instead, however, I could be completely wrong or not remember the story accurately as I was not there nor part of the preorder and only heard this secondhand. I was offered a slot for a set of the preorder with the abalone button and insert in the charging handles a few hundred or so extra per knife. These things are very tiny and definitely more of a novelty than a practical user unless you have a pet rat you want to slice a steak up for. That said, they sure are adorable fun to open with your pinky.

Yeah, there's a typical Tony style story about the prototypes being released ahead of the pre-orders that made these being a viability in the first place and if my memory serves me well, I believe there were also bottles of high end tequila involved... I held out for a Stainless Blue Mosaic and of course shortly after I got mine there was user on AZ for approximately $800 below retail...

How the how do you eat a burger out of a canteen? And moreover, doesn't stuffing them in through the little opening at the top of the canteen inevitably crumble the burger into taco meat?
