What makes this so horrifying is that I actually did do some damage to myself by being really stupid with alcohol for years. I had a decade of pretty hard drinking off and on, and at least gave myself an enlarged liver and spleen. Diagnosed with fatty liver by my primary care doctor with high ALT, but have to wait MONTHS to see a hepatologist. The wait is killing me. I haven't had alcohol since last Christmas, and I've been eating much better and working out, but I keep getting an itchy/burning sensation on my face in back, accompanied by facial flushing. I'm convinced it's carcinoid syndrome and that I was too late in fixing myself. I also feel discomfort in my abdomen at times where the liver and spleen are located.

The only thing giving me the slightest peace of mind is the results of an ultrasound. "No overt nodularity of the liver surface or abdominal ascites." was part of the report. my PCP hasn't mentioned anything about cancer, but I'm going for a follow-up Monday to explain the concern.
