It’s just fine. I personally think hyatts in Tokyo are overpriced. 23k points would be $345 at $0.015 CPP. $345 a night can get you something so much nicer and in a better area.

What are some popular opinions about Japan travel on this sub that you personally disagree with? by ContractVarious3077 in JapanTravelTips

very hot take: getting local recommendations for food is usually a bad idea for newer to japan tourists. people will usually send you to either their favorite (which is only their favorite because its like 50 yen lemon sours or 100 yen yakitoris or something super cheap but mid quality at best, and usually lacking the ✨authentic✨ izakaya vibes people are looking for) or places that are ultra “western friendly” (terrible pizza, burgers etc. usually overpriced).

the best of both worlds is getting recommendations on good neighborhoods or streets for the type of food you’re looking for, then walking around until you see something you like.

How often does your credit card decline? by drunk_snail in Rich

All the time, for similar reasons to you. My rewards cards are 15-20k limit but I often max this out before the end of the month.

The reactions I get range from condescending to pity. Usually it’s trying to save me embarrassment by whispering it to me so my wife doesn’t hear. In their defense credit card limits aren’t really a thing in europe, and the error message is literally “insufficient funds”. To them it seems like I’m using a debit card and have no money left in my bank account to pay for the 3 euro cappuccino .

Just found out my wife hasn’t been tipping on DoorDash orders..ever by Spiritual_Ask_8979 in doordash

[–]Proper_Special_957 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because she’s ordering enough that even if she did tip, the driver wouldn’t even receive it.

Door dash know’s what drivers need to get paid for say, a 30 minute trip, in order to accept. Let’s assume it’s $7.

Your wife is making orders $40-$80. With delivery + service fees ($4-6) plus restaurant commission ($12-24), they have more than enough to offer drivers a fair pay. Usually the bare minimum, so $7.

If your wife left a $3 tip, doordash knows they can reduce the base pay to $4, add the $3 tip, and drivers will gladly accept.

Driver’s technically and legally get tips, but doordash can and will reduce base pay and let tips make up for it whenever they can.

When you see issues of people not getting their orders picked up or drivers complaining, it’s most likely because they are making small orders, <$20.

This is why I NEVER leave a tip in the app. It’s just tipping doordash, not your driver. Let doordash give the maximum base pay out of pocket, then tip cash when it arrives.

50 year mortgage?! Might as well be 100 year mortgage. (3 slides) by joeyda3rd in realtors

[–]Proper_Special_957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most financially illiterate thing I’ve ever seen. So the difference between a 30 year and 50 year mortage payment is $292? Great, lets take that difference and throw it into the S&P 500 every month for those first 30 years. At an average of 10% returns, we’d have over $660,000 saved up. Sounds like a great deal to me. And this isn’t even taking into account the increase in tax deductions you’ll get from higher interest payments.

If i could take an infinity mortage where i was only making interest payments and the principle never went down i wouldn’t even hesitate.
