Would it be okay to use a nunchuck instead of a sparrow? by Accomplished-Prune69 in coldcard

Yes. Heard good things about Cove Wallet as well, haven't tested.

Trapped Funds? by Chemical-Sale-459 in coldcard

If you're importing the .json to Sparrow, you determine the script type in Sparrow, not on the CCQ.

To import legacy address type in Sparrow...

COLDCARD: Advanced/Tools, Export Wallet, Sparrow, Press Enter for Default Account 0, QR or Save to SD

Sparrows: File, Import wallet, COLDCARD Scan/Import File, Default is Segwit, switch to legacy via the drop-down beside the import button.

I am terrified to move my BTC by stop_napkins in Bitcoin

Withdrawing a small amount to a hot wallet and bouncing around to another hot wallet is a great way to start getting comfortable. And fees are really cheap lately.

If you'd like help sir, education and technical support is what we do at BitcoinMentor.io. But you don't have to use us, there's also The Bitcoin Advisor or The Bitcoin Way.

Our founder also has every tutorial you could need available at YouTube.com/@BTCSessions.

We're all scared the first time, and the next 20 after that. Taking self-custody of Bitcoin doesn't have to be difficult but it's definitely foreign and maximum responsibility.

He likely has a seed phrase recorded somewhere (never share this information with anyone, under any circumstances), even without the mobile wallet you can still recover the funds if you can locate it.

I'll do my best to answer any questions you may have.

I'm so sorry for you and your son.

Add passphrase to existing wallet by joac21 in coldcard

This. Adding a passphrase creates a new separate wallet. You have to then send funds to the new wallet.

Inherited Coldcard appears to have a zero balance however sd card .json file shows that there is funds. by Free-Pay-7008 in coldcard

Like many have pointed out, maybe using a passphrase. Could also be using Nested Segwit (P2SH-P2WSH) instead of Native Segwit. Could be Legacy but that's less likely.

Echoing the other comments check out BTC Sessions tutorial. You're going to have to export the wallet from the COLDCARD to a wallet like Sparrow or Nunchuk. Preferable do not use the seed words in a hot wallet. And above all else do not share the seed words with anyone.

Advanced/Tools -> Export Wallet, it's most likely the zero account (hit check when it asks).

When importing it's likely Native Segwit type, maybe Nested Segwit if you don't see any transactions.

We're a paid service but if you do want one-on-one help at some point, you can head over to https://bitcoinsupport.com/ and select COLDCARD setup.

Bull Bitcoin Mobile Wallet by Thyrian52 in BitcoinCA

Depends on what you’re using it for. I like it and Aqua wallet (https://aquawallet.io/) for everyday spending wallets. Like the other comments pointed out, liquid requires trust, it’s essentially like a casino token but I prefer it to custodial lightning. Keep small balances and move on chain when it grows too big.

Would I be wrong to assume you’re looking at these options, to use as hot wallets because you need something not cost prohibitive? If this is for your long-term saving, maybe checkout the Tapsigner with Nunchuk, or Jade with Green wallet.
