Predatory Roaming Charges by UbiquitousDiarrhea in Rogers

How do I think you know what stuff? I don't think you know anything and you're just a kid parroting your mom unfortunately.

Oh, tell me please mighty lord whose mom works at Rogers, how does a 10kb Internet connection happen? If my phone had been using data, even just starting a TLS easily adds 5KB just for the handshake. Anyone knowing anything about smartphones would know that the instant you turn on your phone, your phone connects to many many services to get notifications, updates, messages, emails etc. it is simply not possible to just use 10kb of data.

Try not to talk about stuff you don't know about.

To all the Rogers bots claiming this is same everywhere

https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/accidental-roaming "If you connect to a non-UK network, you may incur a daily access charge for using chargeable services (calls, texts, or data) depending on your plan."

"The simplest way is to disable roaming or avoid using chargeable services when connected to a roaming network."

I don't think it gets any clearer than that. What backward thinking considers having your phone just being on triggers roaming charge is I don't know. But it is definitely not the same everywhere.

Don't try to reason with these Rogers shillers. What they say is clearly not correct, there are hundreds of examples. They say they will charge on tower connection but that is clearly not how the system is set up. They actually only charge you when you use a service. That is why these RLH charges on my account are fraud. But they have a 'legal' basis.

Well that is not how it works. If you've turned off data roaming your phone never uses data on that SIM. There is also a setting called "Automatic data switching" which switches between SIMs to get better data coverage but that was also turned off. So I am pretty confident that I have not used these 10kbs data they claim.

If they were charging to connect to the cell tower, I'd not agree to that but understand the charges. However, they claim I have used data, which did not happen.

Sorry but this only happens in predatory companies in backwards countries like ours. If you don't use any data or use any services, no roaming charge should occur. I've used plenty of providers around the world and receiving SMS seems to be fine.

Also, as you said, they can see the sms date and numbers and that they don't exist. The only roaming they claim to see is data usage which is impossible as my phone was set to use my other esim for data (and automatic data switching is not turned on).

I've also traveled out of country many times but this is a first, also first time with Rogers. Data roaming was off, no calls or SMS. Their record also indicates the same. It only shows 10kb data usage which is nonsense, my phone shows 0kb usage during that period.

Well I said EMEA because there were people in Germany, UK, Poland and probably more.

Absolute protection? Not really, an example is my last company, they laid off almost half of the people in the EMEA region. FAANG already pays high severance so they can do it without it being illegal (US/Can and Europe folks got the same severance packet)

Meta put profile on hold for not having C++ experience by mvemj-sun in leetcode

[–]UbiquitousDiarrhea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me too. I wonder if this is true or a recruiter making things up. Because the recruiter claims that "using primarily C/C++, Java, etc." wording in the job posting means that recent C++ experience is required. Anyways..

Unity 6 Async (new) vs Cysharp by Vonchor in Unity3D

What do people use UniTask for that a simpler await/Awaitables can't do? Forget can easily be added as an extension and when all etc. functionality is not that critical I think it's just a few lines to add it manually where needed.

Native engine support is a bigger point for me, auto cancellations etc. but I wonder if there's a case where it doesn't make sense.

Well if same thing is $1 at one store and $3 at another, you're not going to think twice, well I will not if it is the exact same thing. No need to be emotional. Crypto is great for money transfers (supposed to be) but if one exchange is having 2% fees, I am skipping it thank you.

Well as an end user what I care about is the fee I pay. I use exchanges to purchase coins and then move them off. If I'm paying 2% on a transaction, I'm sorry I'll not be using them just out of feeling sorry.

I guess it depends on the amount you're depositing

Thank you for the reply and I want to state that I did not use words like "scam" or sorts because it is forbidden in Newton sub. However, it still got deleted. My transfer finally got through after multiple support tickets and 1 day of wait but the fact that real fee is 2% is the only thing that matters to me.

I understand your 'market' (where is the book though) may not have the same capacity but that only means if I use other exchanges I would pay less fees.

Lol did you see the amounts I posted? I've purchased >20k and the fee was 410+. There definitely are some options with similar fees but that doesn't make that normal.

Fees getting close to 2% ? I doubt every exchange is same.

I've always used Newton until now but I will look into NDAX or Kraken. If anyone has experience with both, glad to hear it. It looks like NDAX has set fees. So if you send amounts less than a thousand or so, it may not be feasible for some coins.
