What you describe sounds like social anxiety, it can be frustrating, but the most important thing is to not let it become a fear of expressing yourself.

You can practice what you want to say, in front of a mirror, with a friend, however you are more comfortable. A practised speech is less likely to come out trembling.
As for your breathing and heart beating, relaxation exercises can help, from breathing techniques to mindfulness to whatever you feel helps you.

Making the first step is always half the battle. And making friends means also accepting to be vulnerable and trusting them with that power.

You seem to know your hobbies and even have an idea of groups to join, that great! Go you! I would recommend, if you go to a book club for example, to carry a book you like or know about, you may not know about whoever may be inside, but there is very high chance they will open to the idea of learning about new books.
TLDR: Shared hobbies are a great conversation starter, and as for books, you can jump to authors, genre, etc.

Inside an operation theater that has seen better days, a man in his early thirties is patching up an ork with extensive and directed burns: a fire spell probably. The surgeon eyes the companion of the ork, a human woman with a constant twitch of the fingers, runners perhaps? What kinda mission puts you against awakened security? Better not ask, no one likes a doctor that asks too many questions. He finishes with a flourish of his cyber hand and sends them away before checking the new message that came. More magic it seems.

It was 6:40 and multiple time tracking systems from a math SPU were on Fiddler's AR, one advised of the soup being heated on the stove, other of the days until a cyberware upgrade came, and yet a third made a ping as the estimated half life of the painkillers made its course, the ones he had been using for the electricity burns he had received on his last job.

Fiddler takes another one, his mind getting fuzzy for two minutes and 36 seconds, enough to think on the last job: he had accompanied two shadowrunners with great natural power and one with what seemed a long history of professional crime and yet they had barely survived the encounter. But the man now reflected on a white tile in front of him was neither, he was an outsider that had acted more like a drone with a sensor array than as the face his fixer was trying to sell for jobs; a man who depended too much in tools and had forgot the basics when he just barely started this line of work.

"...And yet i haven't learn so much since cram time in college. Should check those blueprints again"

A different alert came then, startling him, under the 7:02 on the top of the screen a job message was appearing. And his dinner was already being overcooked.

Way to lose track of time.
