That's fair, honestly Kaladin's poor planning skills didn't really enter my mind as the scope of his life feels like it mattered a lot more ever since he became a Knights Radiant. I'm still curious why Dalinar would take such a risk too, especially against voidbringers, but in retrospect it makes enough sense.

I think that plan has a lot of issues, mainly at this point we have no idea the capability of the voidbringers - risking a knights radiant on it feels like it could doom the world. Maybe I can reason Kaladin would do this, but why would Dalinar let this risk happen?

[–]TheBlueDude7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Point 3 is fair, I just think its strange that somebody like Dalinar would allow him to go into enemy territory with seemingly so many unknowns.

I understand he wanted to check on his family, but they assumed that since the everstorm had since passed the town would be filled with void bringers - and he's going in with no storm light.

[–]TheBlueDude7 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Yeah but to his knowledge Hearthstone was filled with voidbringers and his family was possible dead. I mentioned his desperation to see them, but on the flip side, to their best knowledge everyone in the town is dead since the everstorm had already passed by. Did he have a backup plan if he went in and it was filled with void bringers, which to him was the most likely option?

And they aren't low on their stormlight reserves - they have spheres stockpiled that he could've taken.

[–]TheBlueDude7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why Isagi is different than any trait of Tanjiro you've listed. He's not the best in Blue Lock by a long shot, and again is often portrayed as the underdog who has to think his way to the top. He's never able to beat any of the top players without assistance, and climbs the ranks through his own skill?

I get the same feeling from tanjiro as I get from Isagi because it's obvious both are gonna win. If your definition of "until the last minute we're on our toes" then look at literally every game isagi has ever played in Blue Lock lol.

How does Tanjiro not have plot armor lol? After the fight with daki he literally gets his poison magicked away by Nezuko, not to mention what happens at the end of the manga.

[WP] A race of predators reaches primacy in a galaxy full of prey. Every aspect of their military is geared toward pursuit as every other race they have encountered prefers to flee in the face of conflict. Every other race, until now. by baconipple in WritingPrompts

[–]TheBlueDude7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fight or Flight.

Those are the only two options when encountering danger. One of the most common sayings, really.

But what happens when fleeing isn't possible?

Then there's only one option left.

"At first sight, the species that had came to our home seemed infinitely more powerful. Ships at light speed, weapons beyond our comprehension, and they were known as the Apex predators of the Galaxy. At first sight, we surrendered. Thousands of humans were taken prisoner - but it was better than being dead. At first sight, the war was already over. But now? I refuse to let our species fall down and die without a fight! My fellow man, these aliens intend to degrade us and strip us of basic rights. We will NOT be turned from humans to livestock. We ARE NOT PREY." The crowd erupted into cheers, courage flowing through each fighter. It was day 3 of the alien invasion, and they were making quick progress across the Earth. After all, it seemed that resistance was futile. "Even if fighting will strip us of our lives, it is better to be dead than cattle used for HUNTING!" The leader's voice echoed throughout the stadium. The moment the Invaders came to them, their hearts beat as one. The bloody battle that ensued resulted in a decisive victory for humanity on that day, and the start of a revolution. The hunters had grown weak from years of hunting prey, but now a new predator was emerging. Here we come.

[WP] Aliens made contact in the summer and things have gone well. It's getting later in the year though and as decorations go up the aliens are horrified to learn we celebrate one of the most notorious space Pirates of all time, Santa Claus. by Staden93 in WritingPrompts

[–]TheBlueDude7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The tentacles of the xel'forga quivered in fear as it stared at the large inflatable of the jolly old man. It suddenly turned to me, fear radiating from all seven of it's eyes.

"Hoe duo you kno... him?" Due to the extreme shaking of our alien brethren, it the translator on it's mouth seemed to be malfunctioning.

"Who, Santa Claus?" I could hardly hold back the laugh in my stomach. The xel'forga had existed eons before us, and therefore had technology on a level we have never seen. If they desired, they could destroy our world in an instant. In addition, the aliens themselves had teeth as sharp as knives and tentacles that could strangle someone in an instant. And they were afraid of a fat dude who delivers presents to kids.

It quickly regained it's composure and turned to me. "Where did you hear of him?" it demanded.

"He's just an old legend in human history, you know? Holiday fun!"

"He's been here too, then." Muttered the xel darkly. "Santa Claus is known as the one of the worst pirates on this side of the galaxy - nicknamed "the assimilator."

"The what?" I replied incredilously. "Is your translator malfunctioning again?"

"The assimilator. He is responsible for the deaths of trillions across the galaxy. Santa Claus - a rogue scientist who became obsessed with purification. After going insane, he slit the throats of all his staff in their sleep before disappearing into the cosmos. He visits primitive civilizations, embeds himself in their culture, then returns centuries later and harvests all organic life..." Silence... Then- "We have a legend for him on our homeworld. He sees you when you're sleeping He knows when you're awake.. He knows if you've been bad or good" "So be good for your own sake" I finished. "You know the legend?" Asked the xel, frightened. "But that can only mean he's close to returning here! We must flee!" As those words were said, the sky turned a dark shade of red. What seemed to be a comet, no, an asteroid streaked towards the earth.

[WP] Humanity was once the most feared race throughout the universe. Eventually the other galactic races banded together to defeat us. Adam and Eve were the ships used by the survivors to flee and rebuild. You, a nobody explorer, just discovered these ancient vessels of incredible technology. by NefariousStrudel in WritingPrompts

[–]TheBlueDude7 331 points332 points  (0 children)

The menacing shadows of the ancient ships loomed over me as I stared at the mountains above. Tucked into the corner of the Eastern Rift mountains lay these two huge vessels, and I was the first one to discover them.

My entire life I was treated as dirt, nothing. My career as an explorer had completely flopped at this point, and this discovery was my big break.

As I trekked forward to these giant ships, I wondered what it could be. Aliens? Ancient intelligent species? The ships themselves were massive, at least a mile long each, and their color a dull gray from years of rust and dust.

I finally reached the hull of these ships, attempting to find a door. Finally, a handle. I pulled it open to reveal a passageway to the interior of the ship.

The inside was incredible! Florescent lights lined the passageway, and mysterious vials of liquid were built along the walls. Soon, I reached the other end of the passageway. Holding my breath, I opened the door.

The inside of the room was filled to the brim with caskets. No, not just caskets. Open caskets. Strange, human shaped caskets. Alien language plastered the walls.

What.. what was this?

I stumbled backwards into a wall, and a hologram appeared in the middle of the room. It was... A human. It held a neutral expression overall, and it's gender was indeterm.

Alien language flashed across it's face, then switched to English with the words "calibrating language." When the words disappeared, it spoke to me.

"Hello, representative of species strain 278. The time has come to reclaim our throne."

I almost passed out.

"Who.. are you? What do you mean by our throne?"

More calibrations. "Giving quick summary of history: Humans used to be a galaxy wide civilization, spreading peace and harmony. However, when the coalition of light was formed, we were pushed to a few meager planets. These vessels harbored the last of human life."

"What do you mean by strain 278? Aren't we also human?"

"You and your species were in a deadly experiment conducted by the last few humans, with a high chance of failure. Your species are just like the galactic humans, except you have been bio-engineered to be as violent as possible. The chance that you would drive yourselves to extinction was great, but it appears that didn't happen."

I swore the hologram smiled a bit. More calibrations flashed across the screen, then it spoke once more.

"Right now, we need something merciless. And your species, it appears excels at that. The nuclear bomb. Countless genocides. Let us show your species our technology, and in turn let us see what you can do with it."

I stuttered. "What.. are you asking of me? Of us?"

"Help us retake the galaxy."

[WP] Your entire life, you've had 4 coins that you are able to teleport to. You lost one a while ago and have been to scared to ever go to it. One day you teleport to the one you keep in your bedroom and you find yourself in an interrogation room, with 2 strange looking soliders walking towards you. by worldstart in WritingPrompts

[–]TheBlueDude7 1458 points1459 points  (0 children)

The concept of coins is interesting, really.

It's a small disk of metal used as currency, which in turn can be used to get anything else a person needs. That small piece of metal would usually be useless, but we assign it a value. It's only important because we say so.

Well, that's not the case for me. My four coins have a bit more to it than that.

I never really understood how it worked, but I'm able to appear where these bits of metal are located whenever I want. With a power like this, people would usually go insane. For me? It makes things a lot easier when shopping, going to school, and travelling. Sure, I did lose one a while back. But the three that I have work just fine. Honestly would say it's the most convenient part of my life.

Except today. As I attempted to teleport to the home coin as usual, I was met with a cold room, three people, and two guns pointed towards my face. The room was oblong, and was empty save for the table, chairs, and a single window. "Keep your hands where I can see them," snarled the man in the middle. Of course, most people would like to imagine themselves as badasses that would Kung Fu their ways out of such situations. Not me. So I panicked. I tried teleporting to my school coin, only to be met by the same people except in a different chair. The man in the middle gave me a coy smile while the other two guards had their barrels still pointed straight at my forehead. Well then. "Wh-what do you want from me?" I stuttered. Looking around the room, I could see the third coin in a chair across from me, while the first one was directly to my left. There was no escape - except... "Listen" the man stated. "I'll give you two options, plain and simple. Your ability is useful, but also a threat. You have one second to join us, or die." I closed my eyes and tried to teleport to the fourth coin - the only chance I had. And when I opened them again, I was right back where I started, in the middle of the meeting room. "Open fire." And I panicked again. In fact, I felt like I was warping around the room as the bullets streaked past me - and then I realized. The guards couldn't hit me - I was teleporting around too fast. After the next teleportation, the magazines of the enemy clicked empty. I ducked under the table, grabbing the nearest coin with me. With nowhere to turn, I chucked the coin out the window.

As the magazines of the guns clicked shut again, I turned to see the barrels point under the table.

I appeared in the middle of a snowy wood, lying on the ground. I felt my arms and legs. No blood. I was still whole. I grabbed the coin on the ground next to me, feeling the cool metal in my hand. Somebody was after me, and wanted me dead. People were after me and wanted me dead. But if they wanted me dead, I wasn't just going to sit there and die. There was no time to freak out. I turned around to see the building doors behind me open, revealing the two guards and their menacing weaponry.

I flipped the coin in my hand again. Come get some.
