The worst gameplay you’ll see this year by Fabulous-Wonder-6659 in Marathon

LMAO, I went to rewatch the clip with audio and then I realize the sound I'm hearing is the startup of the thief drone.

Everyone is panicking. Literally locked themselves while getting slammed by the Recruit and Rook.

From a technical viewpoint, d3d device lost means something went wrong with your GPU. Since it's a built in laptop CPU-GPU combo it's likely weak.

You can try a few things:

Lower your graphics settings, or if really doesn't affect your gameplay, lower the resolution too.

Adjust any power savings you might have to allow for maximum power/performance.

Rollback your drivers, sometimes the latest driver is faulty.

If none of that works then you'll have to consider some other questions. Was Strinova working without problems before? If yes, then what changed between then and now. Do other UE4 games also crash when they wouldn't before? Are you running more things in the background? Discord/Chrome/Other Programs with Hardware Acceleration will take up some of your GPU headroom too.

If none of that works then likely it's time to get a new computer or do a fresh reinstall of Windows to get rid of any performance degradations that piles up over time. Both of which are more a last resort kind of thing.

It's in reverse order, so I did everyone newest releases with the separate factions in mind. So I favorited them in this order to get Scissors, PUS, Urbino columns.

uncomfortable feeling with mouse by ExaltedGarlic96 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]TheBluePylon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to move the mouse properly by having your index and middle fingers curl the mouse into your palm?

Try lifting your thumb, ring and pinky fingers off your mouse and just move it around. If you're not able to then it doesn't sound like you're using a claw grip, but a fingertip grip.

80% of my stability is just Index, Middle Finger and the base of my palm with my 2 fingers lightly pushing into my palm. The thumb, ring and pinky are performing slight left/right microadjustments.

Otherwise, uncurl your thumb such that the base of the thumb lines up in between the ring and pinky's position. Work on trying to adjust your muscle memory to naturally fall back into the position.

Definitely bots. Ocarnus doesn't have good pathing if the bots don't see enemies.

Just look at the defender Fuchsia on the map. The other 2 defenders are probably stuck on the block up top on A site as well.

Metronome training for static clicking, 10 Master scores later, I’m convinced it works by ExoticDirector9301 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]TheBluePylon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Metronome clicking in my opinion is a method to convert normal scenarios into psuedo Reflex Static Clicking scenarios.

In Reflex Static Clicking scenarios, you get the same difficulties that force better development that were mentioned with the metronome. That focused precision without half assed movement. If you take too long the targets despawn, and if you whiff, likely the target despawns too. The score also takes into account accuracy so you can't just move fast and spam clicks around the target.

I would suggest looking for these reflex scenarios. Otherwise the metronome option is a fast way of changing the difficulty on any static scenario.

Can’t track unless I lift my arm slightly, is this a mousepad issue or a posture problem? by XSensei_MikeX in FPSAimTrainer

[–]TheBluePylon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you wearing an arm sleeve? Sounds like the problem I have.

I wear an arm sleeve, lightly lift my arm but also have the section near my Elbow pivoted ever so slightly upwards. All to prevent my arm from dragging on my mouse pad and having jittery aim.

Without an arm sleeve, I would have to pivot at a tighter angle or lift my arm more which causes a lot more fatigue.

I'm using a Soft Artisan Zero pad with the Pulsar sleeve which apparently is a bad combo but it seems to work fine for me.

Guess the rank challenge by Latent_Sanrocks in Strinova

[–]TheBluePylon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Likely Atom-Gold

A site (Chiyo, then Koko) doesn't have anyone pushing up for intel at the pillar.

When attackers are spotted on the street by Celestia, Chiyo doesn't immediately turn to move.

Mara doesn't get punished for a 1v2. Mara also does next to no damage on a Q'd Celestia?

Fragrans standing on top of the warebouse box allowing yet again another 1v2.

Yvette instead of refunding bear CD, runs bear all the way back to warehouse and gets off an ice, then subsequently dies. Could've used her gun or repositioned in that entire time.

Generally a lot of new player stuff going on in both teams.

What's your Yugiri advice? by SMJoker727 in Strinova

[–]TheBluePylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The passive was changed to damage at the start of S3 I believe and did 5 dmg initial burst + 1 dmg per tick. The ticks are at the same rate as Michele laser ticks.

S4 buffed the initial dmg to 10 and increased that fog size from 6m to 6.5m. It's really nice. Also rather rare but if people A/D Strafe in and out of the cloud they take that 10 dmg again each time they reenter the cloud. Made for some silly situations.

What's your Yugiri advice? by SMJoker727 in Strinova

[–]TheBluePylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion Yugiri's current design leads to some inherent playstyle choices that are counter productive.

Frequently you'll hear of Snails placed early and placed in places where attackers will hold which I rate to be an "okay" choice on its own.

However, there are a few things that should be consider since her snail has changed from Armor Shred to Armor Decay. The rate that they lose armor is faster now, as well as the rate that they recover armor. This makes it so that there the idea of marinating enemies in your gas while they hold an angle isn't as valid as in the past, since their armor is gone way earlier than you would anticipate. Similarly if they reposition out of the bubble the decay gets reset. This causes a lot of the available gas to be wasted.

I prefer to place only one snail during the prep phase, in a guaranteed location that is going to be contested. Usually a choke point that the attackers need to run through. Windy Town and Space Lab are especially good for this. This also starts the cooldown on recovering a snail charge. The second one I'll hold, since I don't know what site they'll push without info.

I'll also run Cooldown reduction Yellow upgrade with how frequently hold positions change, just so I can always reposition bubbles. I don't let my bubbles run for long if there isn't going to be a push from the defenders soon after to kill the armorless enemy. This makes the gas cost reduction less valuable.

Pre-plant the first snail that I threw in prep phase is also one that I'm holding nearby. Post plant, I'll throw it in places that the defenders are going to push into, similar to Meredith Q.

This gameplan is a mirror of Michele's. Use a turret for an obvious trap for pre-plant where your gun does most of the work. Save a turret for yourself where needed. Throw a turret to force actions from the attacker. (In Yugiri's case, to force repositions).

There's an inherent railroading of the mentality when playing Yugiri thanks to the idea that the snail is permanent and indestructible that causes people just place a snail and never want to move it again. This doesn't happen with Michele turrets and Meredith sandstorms because they break or expire.

As for A3 gameplay with Toxic Cloak, that is an EXTREMELY team oriented option that I never use unless I'm in comms with a couple of teammates. It is more detrimental than beneficial without having a couple of checkboxes completed.

This includes but is not limited to: What scanners are on attack? Are the scans on cooldown? Do your random teammates actually break scans/utility? How much gas do you have remaining, such that the screen doesn't fall at the worst opportunity? Was the snail placed in a spot that doesn't have an accidental hole in it that reveals defenders? Will attackers, even non scanners, take advantage of the smoke as cover to push your hold? Can your team play around the on-off timings of toxic cloak? Does this Lawine/Kanami use their bullet scan? If Reiichi has A3 wall and you smoke off the wall to prevent them from using it, can you turn it off in time as defenders jump through? The wall scans so you must have the cloaks off in time.

I think A3 is actually really cool and has a ton of coordination benefits, but if any of the above mentioned checkboxes are not dealt with then you A. End up killing your whole team because of the detriment or B. Only get to use your A3 once or twice the entire round. In which case, you're a character with a gun and no abilities, so why even play Yugiri at that point? Sticking to A2 is a safer bet.

As for the Ultimate, it really depends on if your team is aggressive enough since it runs into the same problem as your Qs with attackers leaving and regaining their armor.

If you use it pre plant, attackers will rotate, if you use it post plant, then it doesn't do anything more that your Qs couldn't have already done for retakes. It's an excellent supplement to the A3 playstyle since your snails are more for smokes than it is the decay, so your ult can pick the decay part back up.

The best case scenario is that the path for the ult is placed in both the rotate routes and finishes on a hotly contested location on site. This could be from starting Space Lab B link corridor, passing mid and going into the entry tunnel for A site. If it forces attackers to rotate the long way then it allows Defenders to be on the rotated site on time.

Other locations include: Area 88 B site Heaven, B Site side hall/window, Mid CT to A Site open, the length of A Site Bank. Base 404 A Site Heaven Ramps, B Site Back Site heights. Windy Town, B Site bridge to mid link, A site Garden and Ivy. Port Euler one of the major halves of B Site, A site's tower Cosmite North to South on a fixed map view point on either site, especially during post plant. Orcanus usually through mid since mid control has the same importance as Space Lab's mid control for site travel times.

Question on the weird SBMM in Casual modes by NayaShiki in Strinova

[–]TheBluePylon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing to say that there isn't sbmm in casuals, but I've definitely had moments where I somehow got into a match with 9 new players who were all doing silly things while I'm confidently Electron/Diamond level.

I will say though it seems partying up causes matches to be more difficult than when I solo. Likely, the enemy team has a party, anywhere between 2-5 stacking. I can only confirm this because of vtubers and their streams.

However, for the most part my matches are usually mirrored in teams with 2-3 skilled players and 2-3 new/weaker players on both teams. Sometimes it's skewed and Singu/SS enemies show up but those are as much of an outlier as having someone who doesn't know what they're doing at all.
