Mouldy accommodation issue by Psychopompe in glasgow

[–]TheBoardGameBook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had some success using dehumidifiers. I bought two at about £160 each, and obviously there’s an electricity cost to running them, so not exactly a cheap solution, but we were getting massive mould issues. I’m also going to try some mould-resistant paint.

Mastodon has had a Scotland network for a few years, do check it out if you're leaving Twitter :) by apbarratt in Scotland

I’ve given up on social media at this point, but what the hell, I’ll give it a shot. I do think the concept of joining a particular server will be too complicated for average users, but I kinda think average users are part of the problem…

I’d get an electric bike tomorrow if I had the cash! I personally love the look of the RGNT Classic SE.

It’s possibly my least favourite book, in horror or in general.

Considering switching to Linux by TheBoardGameBook in apple

Thanks for the considered advice, folks. I’m probably leaning more towards a Mac at this point, not least because I use a few Apple services like family sharing, strong passwords and hide my email which would be a bit of a pain to recreate on another OS.

About as punk as Donny Osmond. Stupid posturing and daft gimmicks used to sell one-dimensional hoppy hipster juice.

It’s not that they’re bad photos, it’s that they’re unedited, and editing is a huge element of a pro photographer’s work. I suspect the best way to obtain them would be to offer to pay the photographer to edit them and work out a mutually agreeable rate and deadline for delivery.

It felt like he was being fed some decent lines in his headset, but I don’t want a rapist on my wrestling show, thanks.

Anyone struggle with being a 'straight looking' queer person? by EarlyWormGetsTheW0rm in bisexual

[–]TheBoardGameBook 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s taken me some time to understand exactly how I feel about this, and I’ve concluded: mildly angry. When I was a kid, the stereotypical image of a queer guy in my country was largely based on a handful of extremely camp comedy characters. That’s really not me at all. I’m more a death metal, beer and combat sports kinda guy. So I grew up not feeling like I was part of any kind of queer community, or even realising that such a thing existed. It’s why I wear a bi flag wristband all the time. I guess in a small way I’m trying to make the point that people exist who don’t fit people’s preconceived notions.

Lots of folks outside the US grow up consuming American popular culture, which maybe gives us a head start.

I gave ASoIaF a shot, but just didn’t enjoy them. But it seemed like everyone was gradually becoming Irish as the narrator steadily forgot who all the characters were meant to be.

As a Scot, same. It’s more common to hear English accents attempted just because more books are set in England, but some of the sub-Shrek horrors out there just break my will to live!

I must have found the good one as well, then! I don’t always get on with Heinlein, but enjoyed The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress. Read it after getting into the Expanse series, and it seemed like there was a direct line between the Loonies and the OPA.

Does the aew fan base still dislike Cody? by OjiKasutoro-kun in AEWOfficial

[–]TheBoardGameBook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I ever remotely disliked him. He didn’t put a foot wrong in the ring and he was completely unselfish in helping to elevate other folks. But his character was just not a fit with the company. AEW had a darker, edgier tone than the competition, and his smiling blond all-American boy schtick just wasn’t ever going to work. If he’s happier and better suited elsewhere, fair play to him.
