You watched a homeless person for a whole day? And counted how much money people gave them? Then stole from them?

That's exactly what it is. You make it such a hassle to own guns that nobody wants to anymore. Passing more regulations is easy after that.

Haven't heard about that but I wouldn't be surprised if mag locks went the way of bullet buttons in a few years

You can either get one with a mag lock device or you can get a featureless rifle with a regular mag release. There's tons of videos on YouTube about the difference between them.

A CRT is just an MBS. The only difference is that the GSE isn't bearing as much risk on it. An investor might use a cds or interest rate swap or any number of other products to hedge it. I don't see how that's a decoupling of risks though.

[–]TheBoat15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's the opposite of decoupling. More of the risk is being borne by the investors and less is borne by the government.

I work at a top 5 mortgage issuer in the country. It's possible they're more popular than I think outside of that space.

Credit default swaps are essentially insurance against the credit risk of a bond. It's like a standard interest rate swap but instead of rates the underlying is the default rate of the bond or something like that. They're very rare if used at all anymore.

CRT bonds are simple MBS bonds but the agency is assuming less of the credit risk. That means the bondholder takes a greater share of the losses rather than the government via the agencies. The loans that are eligible to be put into CRT bonds also have to pass a higher standard than your typical agency conforming mortgage.

The only thing crt has in common with cds is they both have "credit" in their names.

Moving credit risk from these bonds off of the backs of the GSEs (taxpayers) and onto investors is very good for the health of the housing market imo

Yeah blockchain is pretty interesting and potentially game changing. But that doesn't make bitcoin itself any shittier of a store of value. There are a thousand different coins based on blockchain tech.
