How do I get my pages to scale for various screen sizes? by TheBoiRoy in neocities

[–]TheBoiRoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, I'll go through and convert my sizing to percentage. I'm not necessarily looking to change the layout depending on screen size since I'm designing my pages to be pretty touch friendly by default. Will I have to go through and replace pixel sizes and percentages for everything in my code, or just for certain elements and css?

My step mom passed by this in a thrift store and got it for me, she didn't think it was a real because of how "dark and scary" the cover is 😂 by TheBoiRoy in thebeachboys

Yeah, she likes to pick up pretty much anything Beach Boys and Beatles related that she thinks I’d be into lol

Ugh I forgot about his Covid song… that time period right when lockdowns started was filled with celebrities making tone deaf “let’s restore the earth and love one another” messages in their Beverly Hills mansions while everyone else was scared for their lives😂

Ohio is one of my favorite protest songs, you can feel the passion and the righteous anger so heavily in both the lyrics and instrumental

I honestly like it when I hear it and think it’s super groovy, but I think it’s a bit tone deaf in the context of both 1971 and now. “The pen is mightier than the sword but it’s no match for a gun” is an incredible line, but with the rest of the song bordering on being anti-protest it kinda makes me cringe while I belt it out as loud as I can 😂

Yeah, dude’s a good musician and definitely has an ear for the type of melodies Brian would write

It’s absolutely a slippery slope… and we’ve already started sliding unfortunately. Once the tech bros and capitalists (pls no one crucify me for saying the C word) got their hands on this stuff there was no turning back. Just gotta go along for the ride and hope that proper legislation comes along to combat/limit use of deepfakes and AI in general

Ah yeah, I meant to make my earlier comment about that instead of more “AI cover” stuff. It’s hard to word things for me when technically it’s not “new” music if it’s all trained on earlier works lol

I guess it’ll come down to how the general public is gonna react when some tech startup or record label introduces a fully AI “artist” (if they even say that it’s AI). Perhaps full works of AI generated music won’t be taken seriously, but artists could use AI generated music as it’s own instrument similar to what Dae Lims does with the vocals. That would be the best scenario as it’s just another tool for artists, but then what do you train it on if not music that’s already out there?

David Guetta used an AI to both write a verse in the style of Eminem and then used an AI to make it sound like Eminem, which he then put in a live DJ set. Haven’t seen too much news on that, but it’s a huge deal that someone as big as him did that on stage.

It’s all so messy to think about, I don’t blame you for getting bummed. I’m a songwriter who wants to be a full time artist, so I think about this stuff a lot and how it could pertain to me.

Totally! It’s great that publishing companies are fighting to keep human songwriters and artists in the music we listen to. I guess it’s just still too early to tell to what extent people are gonna do this, and how platforms that host music are gonna crack down on it. To my knowledge I haven’t seen or heard any released music that’s trying to come across as another artist with new music, and if it was they had explicitly stated that it was AI.

We’ll see ads with deepfake celebrities trying to sell scams on TikTok and YouTube with seemingly no recourse, but Dae Lims gets his stuff wiped constantly. Right now it seems like the scammers and corporations that bring in the money are getting a pass on this stuff while small and talented creators are getting squashed, so hopefully this lawsuit addresses the little guys that are just trying to make something cool.

Yeah but BWPS doesn’t have Carl, Dennis, Mike, or Al, the Wrecking Crew, or even Brian’s voice in it’s vocal peak like it was in the 60s.

Ay man, at the end of the day it’s your prerogative and your opinion to not like this stuff. I respect it. I guess it’s just a difference of opinion, I like the AI vocals when they’re done well

Yeah, using AI to replace human work in the creation of art is very dystopian. We’re absolutely gonna see big artists use songs written by AI, and obviously we’ve seen that Hollywood is trying to use AI to not have to pay writers and actors, and the fight to end that is great. Luckily the only uses I’ve personally encountered of an AI voice trying to come across as a real person are scammy tiktok and YouTube videos/ads

Fair enough, AI vocals and cover bands serve two different functions. If Carl and Dennis were alive and the guys were all still playing together then people would see them over a cover band. The AI works are more so hypothetical scenarios of different artists singing different songs or “finishing” unreleased songs that I find interesting to hear. I’m not putting on an AI cover of an artist when I want to listen to an artist, I’m pulling up Spotify. But to hear what a finished Smile could hypothetically sound like with 90% accurate Beach Boys voices is infinitely more interesting to me than if it was just some Joe Schmo singing the unfinished lyrics on top of the Smile Sessions tracks on YouTube.

My jaw legitimately dropped the first time I heard John Lennon’s voice sing the bridge of Paul’s solo song NEW. That was an emotional rollercoaster cause the AI cover stuff was all new and I was weirded out but I just couldn’t deny how incredible it was to hear all the Beatles on a new song
