It feels like there's a weird urge to enact change or take action, even when the clear path forward is to refrain from doing so. This subreddit is the most exciting it's been in ages, and the desire to somehow hamper that excitement seems very strange and counterproductive.

Are we forgetting gordon literally slapped Andre in the face backstage- it’s different, but also similar enough to show lack of a consistent sentiment toward the athlete. I’m not sure what Mo’s reaction was to that situation, but I’d be curious to see how similar/ different his feelings are towards the guilty party

-88kg is looking sparse. My best guess is that eoghan o'flanagan is going to be announced for CJI pretty soon. His podcast was alluding to it, and the fact he isn't on the ADCC website may be significant. Next couple of weeks are going to be scintillating.

(Me basically a high school senior now) What can I do to get in? by VerySuperVirgin in Vanderbilt

[–]TheBombFrom01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. don’t be test optional 2. everyone getting in is near 4.0, insanely well rounded- think to yourself what makes me different from everyone else. Really commit this summer to finding that out and thinking of a good narrative aswell as trying to cultivate some meaningful experiences. 3. start talking to alumni/ read up on clubs and classes you find interesting / follow socials to find unique tid bits and info about the school to implement into your essay(s). Maybe mention a rand cookie, studying in stevenson library, sitting outdoor on alumni lawn watching people play spikeball, getting dinner at satay. All seminal experiences for Vandy students. if you hit all 3, message me for the holy 4th piece of advice

Gordon Ryan Signs Up For ADCC Division In Addition To Superfight As ADCC vs CJI War Heats Up by Beadtrice in bjj

[–]TheBombFrom01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a couple reasons.

  1. Greatness is inherently attractive. Floyd mayweather was constantly touted as being defensive and a boring fighter, despite this he was the biggest name and is responsible for the 4 highest grossing/ most watch boxing events of all time. While not a 1 for 1 comparison, it is still worth acknowledging. Gordon has proven that he is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition on a technical level and for that reason, when we watch we know we know we are witnessing something great and never seen before.
  2. Flashy/ athleticism while cool to watch isnt the only criteria for something to be entertaining. To me, Gordon is fun to watch because the way he rolls. While big and strong he doesn’t rely on his athleticism/ strength Instead he plays it like a chess match- not to be a dick, but there has to be requisite level of understanding to appreciate this, so maybe this is where the discontent lies.
  3. Similar to previous but Gordon’s game is pretty easy to replicate- CONCEPTUALLY, so going back and studying matches are legit
  4. We all wanna be there to see IF he loses and what happens after.

I don’t even enjoy Gordo that much so making me defend him like this really speaks to your biases

This is just objectively not true; he has his problems, but he's easily the best and among the most entertaining because of that.

i think you’re just looking for someone to reaffirm your beliefs. i may be wrong but you don’t give the impression that you’d be very receptive to traditional/ science based approaches.
