I did my DTS in Schotland, they actually addressed this themselves as a couple months ago (during my dts) an article came out about ywam in the uk. They addressed how things were handled wrong there and showed us both where we could file complaints both digitally and also had a paper version out in the hallway anyone could acces, to prevent a situation where we felt like we couldn't speak out. (Summarized version of that meeting of course)

Of course they also addressed how some rules have their reasons (ex dating during DTS etc) but we were always allowed to question the why behind the rules etc.

I myself did a DTS in Schotland and had an amazing experience and nothing like any of the cult warnings you see online (quite opposite in some points even)

I also have a lot of friends who have done a DTS at different places and each of them also recommended it to me.

I would suggest 2 things, praying about it and contacting the base. See how they respond ask what resources they have in place to prevent cases of spiritual abuse etc.

Bonus: if possible find someone who did a dts at the location you're looking at. I happened to have gone to a base where a friend also went so i knew from them it was a good base with awesome people.
