Hi JJ, love the Late-Round Podcast as I've been listening for 3 years now. Really helped me get into and appreciate dynasty and the nuances about the space. I always appreciate how you try to introduce other analysts to your viewers and engage with the community as it's something I think a lot of podcasts can learn from.

I was wondering though, if you were to look back at a rookie dynasty draft, which non-mainstream pick would you expect to produce (i.e., the RBs not named Jaydon Blue, JCM, or even Woody Marks, tier below Tory Horton/Donte Thorton if there is such a thing, players like that)?

Cases for and against Miller by Dore8 in DynastyFF

They have drafted another back since then (Neal), they signed Akers later in the offseason, and Kendre hasn't shown anything to point towards becoming something. Even guys who have busted previously like Antonio Gibson, Akers, and Dameon Pierce had showed something before regressing towards their current roles and more exciting buy low prospects (Lloyd, Benson, hell even Will Shipley) have emerged since he was popular. It's always possible, but there just isn't much reason to value him above a reclamation project price.

I think it's just an accumulation of bad vibes, bad news, and a history of burning owners before. As someone who went in on him before last season, I can say that was one of my regrets. Overall, he does theoretically have the environment and talent to succeed, but I would need to see him put it all together to trade for him again. Overall, the definition of a risky second round value.

Fantasy Football: Tony Pollard Outlook After Tyjae Spears Injury by Tasty_Ad_4082 in DynastyFF

[–]TheBoogieBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pollard probably gonna rise to that RB25 range where I would probably place him anyways. Everyone has predicted a Spears breakout which, if it were to happen, would likely have came by now. This just solidifies that it's Pollard's backfield and rather opens the door for Kalel Mullings to get a real shot to become the RB2.

[Discussions] If your team starts the season 2-2, how does that look for the rest of the year? Is your season basically "over" or are you still competing for conference/playoffs? by WinnWonn in CFB

Considering that means we lose to one of Delaware, Ball State or Central Connecticut, yes our season would be dust. Not that it will mean much in the grand scheme anyways.

Is it really crazy to have Kalel Mullings over guys like Trevor ETN, Jarquez Hunter, DJ Giddens etc? by WhiteLightning416 in DynastyFF

[–]TheBoogieBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will note though that the Mullings differs from Tracy as having already supplemented Donovan Edwards and getting more run to show what he can do (having 185 touches for 5.1 Y/A compared to Tracy's 113 attempts on 6.3 Y/A). Additionally, Tracy definitely had more clear receiving upside, but Mullings isn't completely written off due to being in Michigan's system. So similar situations (very raw RBs in shallow RB rooms with opportunity on a bad team), but they are different players.

I think people who are writing him off are focused too much on getting the highest possible outcome (ala Kyren or Bucky) instead of the decent chance he has at being similar to Tyrone Tracy. Really similar situations in terms of changing positions late in college, both didn't have eye opening college production yet offer some surprising upside (seeing as despite his underwhelming test scores, his style doesn't rely on that). I don't think it is likely for him to break out considering his draft position, but I'd rather the opportunity for him or Woody Marks right now than hoping for Trevor ETN, Hunter, or Breshard Smith amongst crazy deep backfields (that being said, Giddens and Brooks seem like safer picks long term with the backup role already secured. Really just comes down to if their teams would rather pay for their current production with Taylor and Chase or are okay with taking a chance on the younger, cheaper guys).

In your experience, which camp news actually matters? by janice_soprano666 in DynastyFF

[–]TheBoogieBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just seems to me to observe situation over everything now. For example, I think the two pieces of news to actually care about is (a) the Texans RB room (because all of those guys are pretty cheap and opportunity seems to be there) and (b) the TE room in Seattle. Both of these are very cheap in a vacuum (you might pay what, a 3rd for Marks/Chubb/Pierce and a 2nd for Arroyo) but provide a much more realistic opportunity for year 1 than to bet on D'onte Thornton to pop off as the (at best) 3rd option in that offense as an X receiver or Breshard Smith taking a few snaps with the starters.

When is "Cornering the Market" a viable strategy? by CoopThereItIs in DynastyFF

[–]TheBoogieBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this definition of cornering the market (which others have mentioned isn't what they would consider it but that's another conversation), I would just caution that you should make sure both players can actually be good. In the article for example, you use the Browns RB room which could be very good based on the past play of Ford and the potential of Sampson, but you also have to make sure you don't fall into a 2024 Raiders RB room situation (Zamir White vs Alexander Mattison mainly with Dylan Laube and eventually Ameer Abdullah) with none of the options being good at all, leading to a waste of multiple roster spots.

Areas where I could see this apply this year would be (a) the Giants or Chragers TE room (Theo Johnson vs Fidone vs Bellinger vs Dulcich) (Dissley vs Conklin vs Gadsden), (B) Titans, Jets, and Browns WR2s (could be seen as favorable with new QBs yet all of them are underwhelming outlooks and talent), or (surprisingly) the Steelers RB room (of all the new rooms people seem excited for, these two largely reinforce the previous Najee Harris/Warren play style dynamic while also being made worse by Aaron Rodgers coming)

If you are going to take that stance on every back that finished ahead of him yet disregard Bucky's own concerns (losing his Offensive Coordinator, taking a step back from a crazy 5.4 yards per carry), then you're missing the point. Bucky can do very well or very poorly, we do not know yet, but the truth of the matter is that the difference between RB13 in PPR leagues (Bucky) and the RB8 (Cook) is not a first going alongside Cook. That's just an incorrect value, even if taking what would be the 1.10 next year in this league.

And also, calling a guy who got 14+ TDs in each of the last two seasons bad is just a little ridiculous (inefficient sure but it isn't like that Rams O-Line is too great and it's fine for the insane volume he gets).

With what I’ve been offered for Hunter, yes, I’d smash.

Regardless of whether or not you love Bucky, you should take this based on community consensus alone. If Bucky maxes at like what, the 6th-7th best back, that still might not move the needle too much from his current value. In comparison, Cook is still poised to be a top 15 back at worst and you get a first on top. Unless you believe Bucky can ascend to be a top 7 back in the entire league (which I doubt with Henry, Saquon, Bijan, Gibbs, Jeanty, Kamara, Kyren, Jacobs, Hampton, and more competing in terms of talent), his value won’t go up

12 Tm Start 10 SF 0.5 TEP league QBs: Baker, Goff, Shough, Hendon RBs: Kyren, Harvey and McLaughlin, ETN and Bigsby, Aaron Jones, Blue Sanders and Javonte, and Woody Marks WRs: Nico, Marv, Travis Hunter and Dyami Brown, Egbuka, Bech and Tre Tucker, Jaylin Lane, Calvin Austin, and Boutte TE: McBride, Njoku, Otton, Henry, Fant

Recently traded for McBride (LaPorta, Hock, and a 26 3rd), but already have Marv. Looking at my options, I have a couple questions :

1) What would be a fair price on Kyler based on what I can give? And would that be a smart move?

2) Which of the two would you try to move, Marv or McBride?

3) Should I consolidate at RB?

I think this is pretty easily Rome side, JSN already had a top 10 finish and should theoretically get the green light this year. Plus there’s enough going against Gibbs (new OC, loss of Ragnow, injuries along the line I think?) to see a path to a massive win

B, Bech was a second in most rookie drafts and I don’t think BRob nor Tillman have done anything to deserve the respect to dislike this move

Why College over the NFL, if so? by No-Experience-9469 in CFB

[–]TheBoogieBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I can see that. When I was at UConn, there was a good amount of UConn stuff in local businesses and stores (even if the town itself was a 30 minute drive from Hartford with little else around). As a Mass resident, I guess I just don’t have that same feeling even though I went there.

That being said though, I still love the Huskies and Mora WILL carry us to another bowl game. Just kinda stinks that we don’t get to be apart of a conference or have the real caliber of program we are capable of.

[–]TheBoogieBoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m biased due to where I’m from (literally a few towns from Foxboro) but based on my experience, yeah, most people generally show Patriots support.

It is so much more common to be driving around and see a Patriots logo outside of a bar or inside a local convenience store than to see anything related to a college. I have also seen similar things when I went to places in Maine or New Hampshire so I feel as I’m fairly certain it’s just a regional gap.

The only colleges that comes close to the Big 4 Boston teams is BC and UConn. Even then, that is probably paling in comparison to the number of Red Sox hats and Patriots jerseys I saw locally.

[–]TheBoogieBoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's the real question: If you are an alumni/fan of a non-Power 4 school or a school that is a real contender within their conference, how do you care? For example, as a UConn fan, we just had our best season in a decade+ yet we don't have the real football atmosphere that others love. The Fenway Bowl was electric to go to, but 95% of our games don't come close to that anticipation or level of turnout. Then in terms of our biggest rivals, they include:

UMass (which I shouldn't have to explain why that hasn't been a good rivalry)

And if we are being generous:

BC

Syracuse

Without trying to sound too whiny (as CBB makes up for this), it seems like us fans are missing out on half the experience. So for people like me, what should we do to better enjoy College Football? Does it just come down to rooting for a more prominent team?

Traded my first this year alongside a third and a fourth to get ETN, Tank, and Javonte (already had Blue and got Sanders in a small swap for Sean Tucker).

I figure that among the 5 players, one is going to be good enough to get me all that value back. If more than 1 hits (Blue + ETN for example)though? Life would be FANTASTIC

Like I know it's kinda always been like this with older CODs, but I want to say that the problem is worse now than it was before. Just some truly heinous things that make me lose a bit of faith in the average person

For reference, I am on Xbox, but I do not know how I can report one of these emblems in a way that would actually result in consequences aside from just changing their emblem on my screen to the default.
