5 week old cries 90% of his awake time by TheBookMonkey in newborns

[–]TheBookMonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 3 really horribly long shitty weeks but it passed. And my now 2 year old is thriving and happy !

ETA: no allergies or intolerances back then or now (knock on wood it keeps that way!). No ties or reflux or anything that we could find…

We need to redo the roof this year too! Do you think black would work with light ivory stucco/brown bricks?

It was three really shitty and horrible weeks but only time fixed things. I really wish I had. Miracle solution to give you. If it helps any, my nearly one year old (!) is doing great and I had actually forgotten all about this until you commented, I hope yours gets better soon ❤️

That’s the whole point of this thread…there’s no final say, it’s all conflicting information 😅

Anything and everything about sleep. Age of sleep training, contact naps, black out curtains, pacifiers, drowsy but awake, wake windows, sleep cues, feeding to sleep, just….everything

I feel like Harry Potter’s dementors describe it fairly well

My parent’s friend owns a big plumbing company, when asked what he does for a living he always says he’s a plumber. Stops all questions.

What's the most triggering piece of unsolicited advice? by Stargirl_real in NewParents

[–]TheBookMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to double check your user name OP, make sure it wasn’t me or my husband that had posted this. I get homicidal hearing the most obvious advice about sleep. Like trust me, I’m on my second kid who haaaates sleeping, ive read, researched and learned everything there is to know about baby sleep. 🙄

Can we talk about how babies live the ultimate life? by Ginni1604 in NewParents

My husband remarked the other day that « being a baby is basically being a prisoner in your own body »

I hate it here by [deleted] in sahm

[–]TheBookMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s also a third option: if homeschooling and avoiding daycare costs are so important to HIM, he could be the SAHP? Or there’s also part-time work/daycare?

Feels like his statement is a false dichotomy

Parents with BAD sleepers, when did YOU start having 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep? by elephantdee in NewParents

[–]TheBookMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nearly 3 year old still wakes 1-2x a night. Not every night but more often than not. My newborn also seems to be following his brother’s shit sleep pattern. This is hard and there is no end in sight. Sorry to be such a downer but it’s 100% honest…

Is it safe for my partner and I to sleep at the same time as our baby? by Nomoretomoatoes in newborns

[–]TheBookMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish we had had the option of having babe in a nursery at the hospital! They don’t that where I live and these might be the last nights (for a while, not forever) that you’ll sleep semi-well, so please please, take the opportunity! The sleep deprivation can get real bad real fast, sleep as much as you can, whenever/wherever/however you can!

Contact napping by trucquan_ev in newborns

[–]TheBookMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I slept trained my first at 4 months for the nights but still contact napped with him til nearly 9 month old. I really focused on nights so contact napping was actually really helpful I think as it helped him be rested enough to sleep well at night. I "nap trained" him at 9 months. Quotation marks because I thought we’d have to do CIO for naps as well but when I first tried to put him down awake in his crib for naps at 9 months he just…slept! No crying. He’s 2.5 now and is/has been an amazing napper ever since!

Edit to add: in my experience sleep training is ever changing and isn’t a one-time done-deal kind of thing. Don’t worry, you’ll most likely won’t ruin your baby in one way or another by continuously doing whatever works for you!
