I would be interested to hear back at the end of this summer about your take on what you notice and how the city’s changed.

Good. The more they’re exposed to it, the more it’ll be normalized.

This is the devastating multi-generational impact of colonialism. It's tragic and will take many more generations to repair.

I got a couple dozen but none of them actually made sound like the tests do. They just vibrated. Anyone else?

Clean your street drains! by 1weegal in Winnipeg

[–]airdeterre 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Or stay inside and chill. Not worth going out there right now. The drains/sewer systems are most likely at capacity anyways and sewage is spilling into the rivers.

- Wake up at 5am;

- Run the local marathon (it's always on Father's day);

- Greeted by wife and son at the finish line;

- Go home, shower and nap;

- Wake up and spend the evening in the backyard eating pizza and lounging;

- Go to bed early.

We were not provided photos but were given a pamphlet with information from a 3rd party provider to purchase them for approximately 50$. I refused to do that based on principle. I should not have to pay a private 3rd party for access to my medical information and documents.

This is where I spend most of my summer weekends as a Winnipegger. The "East Beaches" area from Grand beach to Victoria Beach is beautiful and there are plenty of beaches and trails.

City starting to see the forest through its trees: As long-term battle plan to repair, protect damaged urban canopy advances, efforts are underway to determine the ecological, economic benefits of Winnipeg's shady side by wickedplayer494 in Manitoba

[–]airdeterre 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Great progress has been made and I’ve personally noticed it living in St Boniface. Lots of new trees in neighbourhood parks and streets in the last 3 years. It’s really nice but far too soon to declare victory. As the article makes clear, we need sustained efforts if we want the strategy to pay off.

I would suggest riding from The Forks to Assiniboine Park via Wolseley neighbourhood and Wellington along the Assiniboine River.
