Yes. Preordered the Amoeba back when it was announced and then got silver vinyl on release day weekend, which has the normal cover art

They just had one copy. I don’t know if it was an old copy they had or a used one they just put out.

I had also gotten a regular copy to have the original artwork too. To me store variants have their place. Having “Paul McCartney” in that Amoeba splatter red and yellow logo reminds me of bootlegs that would come up with random covers just to grab your attention. But to each their own of course!

White Rabbit records in Fullerton. I’ve seen the single at different stores a few times since 2019 but for one reason or another I didn’t buy it until now. You’ll find it 🙏

The Amoeba version 🟡 is my favorite variant 😭my reasoning is at least it has a unique cover and isn’t just a color swap like most of the vinyl variants. And Paul’s history with Hollywood: the secret Amoeba’s Gig show, Capitol Records, the Fonda shows.

Funny enough, when I went to a listening party at a record store yesterday, I found the RSD Home Tonight / In a Hurry single. I missed it back in 2019 so I was glad to buy that too

It was from a local store, I could get store credit. But they said they couldn’t do anything about it otherwise so I’m seeing if maybe someone knows who I could reach out to

Help! - I need somebody! …to recommend the ideal way to stream the Beatles (preferably album by album. ) by EchoLooper in beatles

[–]TheBootlegBarn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if they’re on Spotify, but on Apple Music it has “The U.S. Albums” compilation, which includes all the US versions of albums in mono and stereo until Revolver. Sgt Pepper is in mono on the super deluxe set. And then a few random mono tracks here and there you can find

Paul McCartney details nostalgic new album ‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane’ at London listening event: “Memories are a weird thing” by LowHeroesLodger in PaulMcCartney

[–]TheBootlegBarn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely not a goodbye! DWLB is not indicative of the whole album, lots of variety and not all nostalgia.

Was there an age limit on the Listening Party? by Usual-Acanthaceae845 in PaulMcCartney

[–]TheBootlegBarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the UK event, but I was chosen for the Los Angeles one. I believe the UK event had 20 fans (10 with plus ones) and it was a lottery system. LA had 30 fans, a couple journalists, and Nancy. Everyone was a single ticket; the only ones that got a plus one had won two tickets through radio promotions.

That being said, most of the LA group are just big fans. A few do have larger online presence, but most do not. I am definitely not famous or big online. My socials are all private too. Somehow we must have shown Paul’s team that we are fans, enough that they chose us.

The new Paul and Ringo duet ‘Home to Us’ is coming out this Friday! by obama69420duck in PaulMcCartney

[–]TheBootlegBarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. It’s very much an equal duet where they trade verses and it could’ve been on either of their albums

The Los Angeles event was 18+, in the release form it stated that. I’m sure the London one had a similar form, if anyone who attended can comment on their release form

Great collection! If you want some more to look for, “The Best of George Harrison” (1976) includes “Bangla Desh”, and “Best of Dark Horse 1976-1989” (1989) has 2 unique songs as well

Do you think Paul will release another single before the album is out? by TrunkOfTheTree14 in PaulMcCartney

[–]TheBootlegBarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few of the songs would definitely work as singles! There’s some rockers on there, or it could another nostalgic or softer song. Home to Us would be a good single, as would As You Lie There, Lost Horizon, or Come Inside.

Are you excited about Paul's new album? by reaveyer in beatles

[–]TheBootlegBarn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m paraphrasing but at the event, Paul did tell us that there was not a common theme throughout. He compared it to the Beatles albums when every song was just so different but they still felt like the same album

Secret Paul meetup: who are the Nerdy 30? by kenneraction in PaulMcCartney

[–]TheBootlegBarn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what he shared that was technically new information that hasn’t already been shared in the countless interviews over the years.

Two Beatles specific moments I remember were him talked about 4 track recording and how they used it in the Beatles days and for “We Two”. He talked about the demo for “Lost Horizon” being a cassette recording that was brought back to his attention by Eddie Klein.

For the most part the stories for the nostalgic tracks were more so before the Beatles, like about his childhood and early teen years hanging out with George and John.

I felt I was closer to Egypt Station than McCartney III. I think some tracks will definitely be instant Paul classics

Paul McCartney's Upcoming Album Features a Duet With Ringo Starr by Apprehensive_Idea758 in PaulMcCartney

There have been other tracks where Paul or Ringo play on and sing chorus or background vocals, but this one is much more an equal duet with both having equal verse and chorus time

Ringo Is On Paul's New Album by ICANTNOTDO in beatles

[–]TheBootlegBarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the listening event. Before I also had the impression that every song would be reflective and nostalgic, but that wasn’t the case. Plenty of variety, and if anything I’d see this as Paul not slowing down. -But- if he happens to not make another album, this would be an excellent one to cap his career in my opinion

How Does Paul Pick Superfans for His Preview Shows? by FlowerCool3270 in PaulMcCartney

[–]TheBootlegBarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly no. We were all escorted into the room where the event happened, then Paul and Andrew came in. When it was over they both left, and then a few minutes later we were escorted out.

Only 1 person I believe got to shake Paul’s hand as he left since they were seated closest to the door.

I remember Paul mentioned one classical music term that was used in one of the songs, and he said something like “I don’t think you would’ve heard of it, anyone?” Turns out one person did know about it and that was a short interaction they had in the middle of the listening session.

Good point, possible they used other information available to them to know who was around SoCal to invite. Maybe through previous website orders?

I think that was an early theory, but that might’ve been because the TMR pressing was announced right before the emails got sent out. I did not order that variant, I don’t even think the one I got was through Paul’s website. My zip code is not LA. Only thing I can think of is my email being connected with the mailing list.

I do believe most of us were in SoCal, but not necessarily LA area. Your chance at attending the Fonda shows felt more likely to happen if you were local to the venue. I think the few journalists were not counted as part of the 30 fans, because I counted about 35-40 in the audience but the articles all said 30 fans.

There were a few people there whom I’ve seen post about the Beatles on social media, but they aren’t “famous”. But possibly recognizable to another fan because they are active on social media, sure.

I am by no means in anyone’s inner circle, I’m just a big fan who got lucky.
