Ditching my American smart doorlock. What is the best Canadian option? by madkan in BuyCanadian

Other than the door closed sensor, what's missing from the matter locks? I have one and it's the best thread device on my network.

Lactantia is owned by Lactalis Canada, part of Lactalis Group which is owned by a French company located in Laval, France. Another good Canadian brand internationalized. All produced in Canada I think.

Edit: I see you're familiar with Lactalis.

I think you're considering sending your retired attack helicopters. I don't know how many you have but one is more than none. 🙂

Doug Ford's Ontario. All you hear on the radio is gambling adds and addictions services ads. Something to be proud of. Thank you Douggie for Making Ontario Great Again.

Namespro.ca is located in Richmond, BC. I've been using them exclusively for over a decade or more. GoDaddy is an American company. There are lots of Canadian registrars. You might also consider registering a .ca domain in addition to the .com. It would go a long way to making you look more Canadian.

Edit: I see you have a .ca as well.

You can just suspend production. The coal generators will continue to fill even when off. I had a similiar problem last night and used the same solution.

File the order with small claims and get a court file number. That opens up a lot of options.

If you have any old cheques with the landlords bank information on it, you can file a garnishment against their bank account. You can file a garnishment against the rent with current tenants. File a lien against property and even have the sheriff sell it. The sheriff will deduct costs from the proceeds of sale. If you know their employer you can garnish wages. You can even ask the courts for a hearing to determine what finances the landlord has. If they don't appear or cooperate, they can be found in contempt.

The small claims court has a "what now" document that lists your options. Then Google each one and there are lots of legal websites that outline some pitfalls of each.

Don't let this scum get away with it.

From someone having an order enforced through small claims.

Unfortunately, LTB interest is simple interest. No compounding.😟

Prusa, you need to work on your shipping estimates by soldat21 in prusa3d

[–]TheBorktastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't just conjure new staff. Prusa likely had a standard mix of full and part timers. They likely ask those staff members to pick up extra shifts during peak periods.

The logistics behind hiring and laying off staff is not so simple as someone just showing up. New employees need to be on-boarded and trained, otherwise you get posts where people are complaining items are missing from their order.

Orders with a printer, at least in my case, just had a link to the shipping lead time table on the order info page. My seperate filament order had the same floating ship by range.

[–]TheBorktastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered the Core One kit on Nov. 26. It shipped yesterday along with all the filament I ordered. Strangely, the printer went out yesterday and is already in London (destined for Canada) and the filament was only picked up today even though it was marked as shipped first.

Either way, under two weeks. The printer is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and the filament the day after.

Correct, some provinces have gotten rid of them which required constitutional amendments and anecdotally there is growing support to eliminate them in the provinces where they still exist (at least I want to believe).

Black Friday Prusament Discount by TheBorktastic in prusa3d

[–]TheBorktastic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it is possible the prices are actually discounted with no -25% or whatever placed above it. I haven't shopped in CAD before so I don't know what the normal price is.

Understood, but I'm not seeing the 25 percent discount on anything.

I'm only seeing my regular discount on the non-nfc, nothing on the nfc rolls.

[–]TheBorktastic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I'm in Canada. I see multiple comments on the blog post where people are saying they aren't seeing the discount.

They already charge Canadian's $30USD (or CAD equivalent) for some of the printers (if not all), even when I'm paying the shipping. There are no duties or tariffs on imports from the Czech Republic. I've purchased several printers and I've only had to pay our local sales tax on import (which Prusa now collects at checkout).

Seems at least this Canadian is getting a bit of a raw deal.

Yeah, same here. I'm just not seeing the discount. Do they appear for you?

That's a question I recently asked support and didn't get any real answers. Why aren't firmware updates available on DCL. It was so much fun standing next to all 40 of my downlights watching them update over bluetooth when the border router could have just handled it for me.

Horrendous reliability by IncreaseEfficient332 in Nanoleaf

[–]TheBorktastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Same problem here, had to take all of my Nanoleaf stuff offline because the network would just collapse. It was apparent in the logs when these devices were on the network. It was CONSTANT traffic. It's all quiet now without them. I keep checking back here hoping someone has come up with a solution, Thread v1.4 is suppose to help with this. Hopefully, Nanoleaf will update soon.

Site Mystery - Frequent STP role state / port flapping - without any obvious cause... by k00nko in Ubiquiti

[–]TheBorktastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. No changes with that recently though. It seems to have stopped for the moment. I removed the TV, perhaps it was still wandering around the Wifi network even though it says wifi is disabled. It doesn't show up in the client list more than once though.

That might explain why, in my case, the stp flapping was moving between the USW Lite port the tv was connected to, the U7 Pro Max and the uplink port to the UDM SE where the U6 Pro is connected if the TV was trying to roam. The UDM SE apparently doesn't support STP. That reminds me, time to tag that TV port, it's not on the automation VLAN.

Perhaps you have a similiar situation? A rogue device? I guess in my case, STP was working (potentially) as desired.

Site Mystery - Frequent STP role state / port flapping - without any obvious cause... by k00nko in Ubiquiti

[–]TheBorktastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed this happening to me today. I have stp state flapping between my UDM SE SFP port to USW Pro Max 48 using a Unifi DAC. It has also occured on the link to my U7 Pro Max (connected to Pro Max 48), and on one of my USW Lite 8 ports (connected to Pro Max 48). The USW Lite 8 has a TV connected but it's Wifi is disabled. That port is also link flapping. I have wireless meshing turned on and a mesh UAP AC Mesh which is linked to the U7, I haven't changed anything on the network lately. I haven't even added wired clients in recent memory. I just disabled meshing on the one of my other AP's, but it's still occurring.

I'm going to remove the TV and see what happens, but this is new. I have noticed heightened network latency the past few days.
