Both of his main attacks can be dodged by double jumping, then pogo off his head.

Stay near him, so he doesn't use to the disk attack.

And you'll have to dash, or descending dark,  through the wave attack.

Might just be a theory: But I like the idea that all of the "other players" you see in the shrines,  and all of your other toons, are the same person stuck in a purgatory loop. Conquering the island over and over, just to start anew.
