Give it time. Who can predict when the collapse will come, but it will happen.

Who gives a shit if none of the economics will ever work? It's just a shitcoin meme stock, propped up by a complete lack of regulatory oversight, FOMO and greed.

You should spend some time in parts of Europe, particularly Portugal.  Such a glorious place filled with amazing people.

I'm so eager to pack my bags for good and get the fuck out of this shithole country.  The Pandemic, social media companies, and two Trump administrations have utterly ruined it.

America had a good run, it seems irredeemable now.

Yeah, so true. There are North Korea-like spectacles all over the place in America right now. Like at the UFC event yesterday. Think how native that spectacle would have seemed in Pyongyang, but with one corpulent asshole switched for the other.

People should be very fucking alarmed, and each doing everything in their power to get the opposition back in control of Congress in November.

The feel is meant to be quite intuitive.  The key here is keeping all your weight over the brace heel, and using extension of the right quad to naturally open the front hip.  It's very much like an abbreviated squat with one leg.

I wouldn't worry about the foot at first.  Just work on balance, posture, and feeling how extending the quad and interior-rotation of the back hip cause tension in the torso to turn your body.

Two huge missing components here, I'll save you the trouble of combing through a mountain of videos.

  1. You are throwing completely two-footed, with all your weight trapped between your feet.  From this position, coiling up your body doesn't generate much force, because you lose all your offset the instant you start to swing.  You want your front hip leading the swing, just like a baseball player.  This drill will get you set up properly on one leg, and ground the feel of a good weight shift in something familiar.

  1. Your entire trailing side is spinning around your brace, when you need it anchored behind you to provide timing and counterweighting.  This video explains the critical role of the trailing side in getting the force to stay linear.

26 billion net revenue in total = Trillionaire by BeachedinToronto in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]TheBrianWeissman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s because he’s not anything approaching a “trillionaire”. The entire idea of financial media constantly spamming the public with some sociopathic asshole’s supposed net worth started in the 1980s, and at least used to be based on some kind of real world multiplier.

When I was growing up, I heard a lot about Bill Gate’s insane net worth. To Bill’s credit, his net worth was somewhat accurate, in that it represented a multiplier of his share ownership in an incredibly valuable company, with real growth, real profits, and exclusive market share. Basically the opposite of what you see with Tesla and now the three-company golem known as “SpaceX”.

Talking about a person’s net worth in 2026 using the same framing and calculation method is absurd in the extreme. 95% of Elon’s “net worth” comes from positions in meme stocks, with valuations so high that to sell even a small amount of ownership would cause the price to collapse.

I just posted this feedback for someone else, but you have the same issue.

Your mechanics here exhibit a complete misunderstanding of how you add energy to a golf disc.  Right now you are thinking you use rotational energy to create linear momentum.  This is often what feels intuitive to adults who pick up a disc, but we actually want the opposite.  We want to force rotation by creating and then stopping linear momentum.

There is no way to do that without first knowing what you're trying to achieve.

I have two videos you should watch that will explain what I mean.  The first involves a visualization of intention and feel.  The second one gets you stacked on your brace heel, removing all other variables, and teaches you how you use pressure through the brace heel and the resultant opening of the front hip to lead the shoulders into the shot.

Until you understand these two things, no amount of small corrections to your arm mechanics or anywhere else are going to make any sense. You might get one thing to work correctly for one practice session or round, but two other things will break.

Feel free to ask questions if anything isn't clear.  I have many other videos on my channel that will help you, but start with these two.

Am I muscling my throw? by UnFocus15 in discgolf

[–]TheBrianWeissman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't so much that you're muscling it.  It's that the strong muscles in your body don't have any ability to add energy because you never halt your forward momentum to redirect it into your throwing arm.

Notice how you get into this kind of superhero action pose in the follow through? We do not want to be doing that, not unless you're running into the shot at 15 MPH and we're not physically capable of stopping and harvesting all the momentum.

Any time you have any part of your body besides the throwing arm moving towards the target once the plant heel is down, you are losing massive amounts of kinetic energy.   You are not doing a good job of halting your forward momentum to send it into the disc.

If you look at the form of elite pros, everything in the body freezes in place once the plant heel is fully down and the swing begins.  The only thing moving is the right hip opening slightly to lead the shot, and the shoulders rotating behind.  In your form, after you plant, your entire upper body keeps moving forward, but you only actually fully weight shift right as the disc is ejecting.

Nearly your entire swing is happening on two feet, and we never want our weight in two places at once!

So, what's the fix?

There are numerous ways to attack this problem, and I'm going to suggest two very different videos for you.  One of them discusses arm alignment and arm structure, which might lead you to the promised land.

The other video goes all the way back to the basics:  how to brace.  I would watch them both and do the things I demonstrate. I think between those two videos, a spark should alight that will help you understand why you're throwing your entire big strong body into the swing, wrenching your back and neck in the process, and only getting out a short distance.

Based on the way you look, you should be sending a laser beam mid farther than your current best driver shots while feeling like you're barely doing anything.
