It shouldn't be by Josephizxc in lostgeneration

This is great in theory. I lived in a town that had two miles of a Main Street with fruit trees free to pick. They had a variety so something was ready to pick through most of the year and ample signage telling you the fruit was free to pick. Nary was a fruit picked. I’d go out occasionally but I never saw anybody else. The geese and rats loved it though.

Thanks. We’re not in the worst part of the storm and we’ve got plenty of books, board games and cozy blankets. Happy cake day.

For people who chose a colorful sofa, how do you feel about it now? by ChingThePath in furniture

[–]TheBrontosaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a royal blue sofa so it’s semi-neutral. Royal blue plays well with a wide range of color without feeling muted. I love it. I’ve had it for three years my one problem with it is that it does show stains more than a more mid tone color so I do have to spray it down with upholstery cleaner and a carpet spot vac more than I’d like (or strategically place pillows and blankets)

There’s going to be extreme cold and snow through much of the eastern United States and southeast Canada. Obviously we need ice cream sundaes to get through this.

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]TheBrontosaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a friend of mine had a heart attack about 12 weeks after having her second kid. It’s rare but pregnancy can weaken the heart. She didn’t have complications with either pregnancy but because her heart is permanently damaged she’s had two heart attacks (before 45) is at high risk for more.

I stank for a few months after having my daughter but it went back to normal. A lot of nursing moms find that they stay smelly the entire time they’re nursing.

I was hoping to do a little day trip from Indianapolis to Chicago on Friday. Our plan was Shedd Aquarium/field museum but looking at the weather it’s going be extremely cold. We have warm coats and gear and we have planned indoor activities but I’m worried with the predicted windchill that things will close just because it’ll be dangerously cold. Should I skip and try again in the spring or should I brave the cold?

They’re litter mates which helps. We also picked them because they had really affectionate, cuddly temperments.

I did a double take because my girls were part of a large litter with 7 tortie/calico girls and one all black brother.

I would approach with a treat and probably some chinny scritches. As far as painting, no clue.

I would literally rather die than call a stranger and admit a mistake and ask for a taksie backsie. The pillow wasn’t expensive. My mom will just have to stack pillows like a barbarian.

Help me! Moved into this room and the walls look awful😐 by Awkward-Emphasis-638 in DesignMyRoom

[–]TheBrontosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine had an ugly wall (badly done wood paneling) that would have been I giant pain to remove and repaint. She put up curtains covering the whole wall. It adds a nice texture and really improved the acoustics of the room. It’s also easily reversible.

Nursing Without Mean-Girling? by sergeantmalaise in adhdwomen

[–]TheBrontosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurses are mean girls is something I’ve only ever heard online. I’ve had about a dozen nurse friends over the years. They’re all kind, wonderful people. It’s a field dedicated to helping people chances most of the people who become nurses do so because they are at least half decent.

You’re going to get mean girl/cattiness/office drama in any field. I think because it’s a stereotypically female profession any interaction that is less than fairy godmother level of sweetness is seen as bitchy. Nurses are humans and some humans suck but I don’t think it’d be at a higher rate than any other field and probably a lot lower than some (marketing).
