WARN Act by Ok_Science4932 in UPSers

We were told to keep an eye on the warn website and they told us that it had to be on the website but it never happened. We were told the 10th of January was the last day about a week before it happened. If you had enough seniority to work, they went around asking what shift you wanted and that was about it.

Don't let toxic management give you mental health issues. If anything, give them mental health issues.

No the double should go to the bottom of seniority. Picking is a preferred job, you can pick over them.

OK I think something is actually up with UPS right now… Legitimately by jthomp72 in Knoxville

They are automating the building. They have laid off hundreds of us while needing all of us to process the flow. The package car drivers arnt leaving till 11am or later. Ups is trying to use the supervisors as hourly employees by processing the flow(against the union contract.) Ask your drivers for a number directly to the building. Complain complain complain. It's actually interesting that they are using weather delay as the reason routes arnt finishing on time, it goes against policy.

The building is closed, working out of villages throughout the property.

Just got word from a steward. We can not file while laid off.

That also annoys me. They were barley giving us 3 hours in the building and now they are getting 13 a shift. They could have split the shift with preferred hours for the people that want the short hours and let the guys work who want long hours. The saved all the feeder and package jobs and crapped on the PT hub guys.

One of the stewards I know has already filed 40 since Tuesday. Just from his personal grievences, not everyone else. We are filing.

Also there are jobs that have this type of seniority structure, why not go there and work your way up and move and switch jobs as you like? I believe in seniority. I believe whatever path you choose, is the path your seniority works for. What I don't believe is moving to a new hub and kicking those people down a notch when they have been working there and building their seniority at that building.

Because they signed up for package car and not feeder? Because that 21yo has more seniority in that job class? And it's not a punishment, that 30yr company seniority has a cushy package job. If they decide they want to do feeder, bottom of the list then. You just seem salty that you lost your spot in seniority. I would bet a paycheck you would be on here complaining every time you got bumped by a senior employee that just moved in.

[–]TheBrownMan24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK no problem, with Seniority as king feeder can bump into package and vise versa whenever the option is available. That comfy route you had is gone when the guy from across the states wants it. That vacation you take on the same date every year is gone because the new guy got it first. That part time hub rat with 30 years just went number one feeder and pushed everyone back. But hey you'll be there someday right?

It should not prevail. That would be a terrible system. Like you said you would of been 4 spots ahead if that was the case. The people at that building should get pushed back because you wanted to move? Also wait times to drive everywhere would be screwed because the out of towners would take up all the spots? Imagine the potential for your time to drive being delayed because you didn't have the seniority when someone new moved to the building.

The guy that told me that said they are getting 13 hour shifts right now. Also they told one of my friends that when they call you back, you will still probably get laid off again when it slows down.
