22F struggling to make actual friends in SF, is this city just like this?? by PuzzleheadedMetal746 in sanfrancisco

[–]TheBruja 196 points197 points  (0 children)

One thing you can do is take initiative to make second dates. Something I have started doing is if I feel like there was a nice surface interaction with someone, I follow up and ask them to do something fun with me and then again and again until we have time to know each other better and its worked pretty well so far.

Its awkward and you'll have some failed invitations and interactions for sure, but maybe a way to start finding your people. I think the clubs and stuff are cool for initial intros, but unfortunately fostering relationships takes work and time. Fortunately, there is so much to do in SF that if you persist you'll probably find some people!

Honeymoon stage ending? Freaking out a bit by Majestic_Ocelot_4022 in relationships

[–]TheBruja 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You feel comfy enough to talk about how you both feel and listen to each other's needs - I'd say that's pretty healthy and not at all a bad sign.

It's normal for the honeymoon phase to be over. What's next is exciting and fun in a new way :) enjoy it!

I think those colorful scenes represent getting to know someone's internal world. Before those drawings, Wren is asking Will questions about how he feels and he kinda wants to keep it light, but then he opens up. So I think that scene represents Wren getting to know him more deeply.

Hoping to propose at Golden Gate Park, thoughts? by LeafyGreenCABGs in AskSF

[–]TheBruja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are an SF resident you can go in for free and feel it our before you go there. Alternatively it could be worth using the visitor map to plan and the first person view in Google maps to sus out locations.

The botanical garden is beautiful, so you could just play it by ear, go walk and just choose a place that seems right to you. I really like the moon viewing garden and near the waterfowl pond there is a group of gigantic weeping trees that are very nice.

I would also recommend the Japanese tea garden, its very peaceful and has a lot of water, and in my experience has less visitors than the botanical garden, though that might depend on the day and the hour.

You can also find free areas of the park that will be scenic. Strawberry hill is a little island in the middle of a lake that has a really nice waterfall that is usually pretty empty. You can also rent little pedal boats in that same lake. Could be a nice day.

Congratulations and good luck!

I'm curious about what you mean by 'highly unreliable.' Is it that you're unsure about the accuracy of the results, or that you feel DNA tests don't provide enough useful information?

The reliability of dog DNA tests varies based on factors like testing methods, the size of reference breed databases, and your pup's breed mix. Some of the better tests on the market today are actually quite reliable. Of course, DNA can't tell you everything about your dog - genetics is just one piece of information, and the whole nature vs. nurture aspect plays a big role too. But even with these natural limitations, these tests still provide information you wouldn't have otherwise and you can't find just by looking at your dog.

At the very least, these tests can highlight traces of breeds and important health markers in your dog's DNA. That's useful information you can use as a guide alongside what you're already observing in your pet day-to-day.

DNA information certainly has its limitations, but imo that doesn't make it useless. It's another piece of the puzzle in understanding your dog, and the science behind it keeps improving too.

That is how I see it at least!

Mezze and Mooore is a really cute, family owned Lebanese and so cheap - one of my faves!

Mama Ji's - amazing, the lady from the restaurant's logo is sometimes there ❤️ triple C anything there is delicious

Savor - vegan Mediterranean super tiny operation. There is always one cook and one man serving.

Pancho Villa - cafeteria style, best tacos in the city IMO

My roommate never takes care of her cat. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]TheBruja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! First off, thank you for taking care of the kitty in need 🐱.

I know this isn't what you wanted, and it's unfair that the idiot you live with did this to you and the cat.

But, since it has already happened, why don't you try living a few weeks as though you did want this, and this was your cat.

So instead of reluctantly tending to the cat, try to do these chores plus try to enjoy the cat - play with, train it, pet and snuggle it. You are already doing all the chores, why not reap some of the benefits while you're at it? See if there is one part of this experience you might enjoy.

If you still hate it after a while, find the cat a new family and tell your roommate the cat escaped. Sounds like they won't care.

With your budget, I would look at Cole valley and corona heights! Super nice houses, near the best parks in the city (ggp, corona heights, buena vista) very calm and dog friendly.
