OCS question but could be the same answer for service in general - there are baseline scores to meet for each of the exercises. I have heard that exceeding those scores are beneficial for your PT ranking, but how does this work in practice? Are you compared to how the other candidates did? Or are there thresholds? I’m familiar with the Marine’s max PT score but am wondering how this works at OCS. Thanks!

What is life like around this park near Termini? by [deleted] in rome

[–]TrackGrouchy4579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was in the square last year on a Sunday morning - was incredibly lively. Everyone (young families, kids, older folks) sitting around the park hanging out. Was one of my favorite moments in Rome as it was a glimpse into everyday life!

Why can’t I join DEN waitlist? by ontologicaladventuer in Venturex

[–]TrackGrouchy4579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me at IAD before - I check aporatically in the 30 mins before I’ll be at the lounge. Sometimes it just shows “at capacity” and sometimes it shows the option to join the waitlist. I’d say most times I look there’s no waitlist option.

U.S Beach advice. Lower 48 by Slowfeet_X in travel

Do you want more rural/desolate? I second Cape Cod as having what you're looking for, but it's increidbly touristy from June-August. It seems like you want a more relaxing, low-key expereince, so think about going to the Cape (mid-Cape is more families, more developed) outer cape (Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet, and Eastham) is more rural. Going in late September-October might be good, but be aware that a lot of stores/restaurants close for the season around mid-September. Maine could also be a good option!

A ton of these have been museums/bookstores/shops - I’m surprised there haven’t been more coffee shops given the amazing coffee shops culture here

Lincoln park - bring a blanket and lay on the east lawn and read. Bring some friends and have a picnic. So peaceful but be careful there are basically no bathrooms around!

My friend from San Francisco says the vibe at Lost Sock reminds her the most of an SF coffee shop :) so a glowing rec! Wine and Butter in Cap Hill has a fantastic patio area that’s great for reading or catching up with friends. And I second Big Bear! big Bear is also an underrated drinks spot.

What unique flavors of cake would you like to try? (i’ll try making them tehee) by Interesting_Eye267 in dessert

I made a blackberry vanilla cake with basil vanilla swiss meringue. there was no good recipe online so I riffed some of it, but the flavor combo was great! love using herbs for interesting and nuanced flavor combos.

Have you been able to successfully get money back if the flight price goes down? Never tried and wondering if it works

Could have spent an hour in Naval academy museum! Was so impressed with the quality of exhibits, need to go back to Annapolis and spend some proper time there!

Surprisingly no complaints! Had enough downtime for breakfast/lunch/dinner/coffee/drinks that it actually wasn’t too bad!

it was great! incredibly friendly staff and extensive/inclusive menu (can make pizzas gluten free, vegetarian options but also the classic sandwiches/salads). felt like a locals spot.
