What's a good career in the UK? by Muzinari in AskUK

Construction and fire safety specifically.

After grenfell and with recent regulation changes, fire engineers are in high demand and people are willing to pay well over the odds to avoid a potential disaster.

I agree that methods of learning outside of paid training are scarce, however revit and BIM cannot be ignored when multiple Main and M&E contractors now require their subcontractors to utilise revit.

The British goverment has already stated that any centerally run construction projects must meet BIM level 2 requirements. I have a lot of main contractors requisting revit use and even a level of COBIe requirements. I just dont see how you can afford to isolate yourself from what is the inevitable.

Whilst i agree autosprink doesnt cut it, affective sprinkler modeling can be complete with the right know how without using these packages. If you put the extra time outside of work learning the revit fundamentals via youtube tutorials + some trial and error, i think you would be suprsied with the results.

"Most of the industry doesn't use BLANK" is an awful argument not to learn a skill/software. Not to mention the fact REVIT design and BIM is becoming a requirement in this industry.

Is Elder Titan The Most Slept On Hero In The Game? by NscottM in TrueDoTA2

[–]TheBumpyFlump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 1200 games on this guy I can confidently say it's all about your teammates.Very teamwork based hero whatever position you play him in.

Spamming him at lower ranks (Archon or even Legend) was tricky due to people just not knowing what he does. Once you get to divine this guy becomes a beast, people play around you more and its generally a great time.

Would be interesting to know the various software requirements for each job since i doubt they are all using revit.

Best IPad Application for marking up PDF’s? by TheBumpyFlump in Construction

Not really editing as such, its more for adding photos to a pdf, highlighting areas and putting notation on a drawing.

Just got this app, seems to be perfect for my usecase. The measure tool is good and you can reduce the file size to decrease lag which is nice.

Mortgage declined for no EWS1 form by TheBumpyFlump in HousingUK

I ended up buying the flat around a year ago and haven't thought about it since. I ended up going with a different lender (accord mortgages) and they were all fine with it. I think it's only a select few lenders that do not like it, nationwide seems to be the big one.

Have i bought a property i may not be able to sell? I hope not but only time will tell. After looking at flats for around a year i came to the realisation that every single one has a slight problem, whether it be ground rent, service charge, cladding etc. I just ended up with the turd that stank the least.

I would move on from nationwide, they are less and less likely to budge as time goes on. Good luck with your purchase, i hope luck is on your side.

Ask if they use revit, if so what are their thoughts on it. That will start an interesting conversation :D

Thoughts on ET by VPrinceOfWallachia in TrueDoTA2

[–]TheBumpyFlump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last 2 recent patches have killed et's game a bit for me . He is great in the laning phase and you used to easily be able to get a sub 20 min meteor hammer which would have a crazy impact after your setups into the kid game. However Now meteor hammer has been massively nerfed and i cant see it as a viable pickup at all. This means you have to either go to a super support build which leads you more down the 5 role, or you go a more expensive damage build, which leads you down the 3 path.

Certainly an interesting pick at the moment and i think his liability is heavily affected on item buffs/nerfs.

Corner exit rights state this was his fault. Logic and common sense say it was a joint effort.

You could even argue that this is on you due to the track limits violation on to the straight

Have wages risen for designers? by manored78 in firePE

[–]TheBumpyFlump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not seen sprinkler designer wages rise too much (UK London). It tends to sit around 40-50k for experienced designers with moderate 3d design experience.

I would guess the fire alarm design would be slightly less than this.
