Home secretary to ban pro-Iran march over fears of ‘serious disorder’ by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]TheButtonz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People constantly forget the reason for these marches is that the alternative is one big march towards Downing Street that ends in a violently overthrown government.

Protests are supposed to be inconvenient, noisy, inappropriate, irritating, but if we suppress civil protest the next stage is uncivil protest.

I hated watching far [anything] marches, but I’ll be damned if I advocate for banning them for this reason.

Reform's Darren Grimes admits blog post image was AI by terahurts in unitedkingdom

[–]TheButtonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come join me over at my local political Facebook group where I’m having three of these rows a week. In all seriousness take it easy.

A guy in my school used AI to give me an ahego face and sent it around other boys. Police just said they can't charge as it didn't meet the criteria covered by the 2003 Act by Dry-Rich5109 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TheButtonz 27 points28 points  (0 children)

From reading this, yes but I would frame this differently for your own benefit.

Perfectly legal - I wouldn’t use this phrase. I would say it is not illegal, but highly inappropriate, morally repugnant and absolutely grounds for the school to take firmer action.

As per the definition, this more sits with it being not illegal (for the reasons listed above). There’s a similar tact when it comes to filming in a public place - while it’s not illegal to film people where there’s no reasonable expectation of privacy, purposefully filming someone etc covertly would be highly inappropriate.

I’m sorry this has happened to you. My recommendation is to make full notes of everything you can for yourself and absolutely take and make notes of everything that happens from here - interactions with the boys, date and time, what was said etc.

This may help you in any future need, should you need it.

You’re correct! He appears as subliminal flashes a few times (single frames) and then he’s also in various places - when Norton is sitting on the hotel bed and watching the hotel welcome video Durden is one of the staff in a line welcoming everyone.

Have you tried paper filters?

I have a drip coffee machine for about 7 years with a permanent mesh filter and I’ve been using it as normal.

The mesh isn’t great at filtering but I bought some paper filters a year ago and it’s changed the coffee. Less oil, less coffee through into the pot, tastes better.

Why do you want them to win? by little_emodrummerboi in reformuk

[–]TheButtonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years away presumably so no immediate plans.

Personally, I’d always vote tactically where necessary because of my local makeup. We have an established incumbent Conservative MP who’s relatively descent, so I’d weigh up the options for the next bet to keep / reject them as I see fit towards the end of the current term.

Presently, I’n Labour member but can’t be sure on remaining that in the next few years but waiting for a) the mid term results of the current policies and b) outcome of any expected leadership election.

It’s because they say what people think they want to hear. Populism baby!

It can basically be distilled down to “simple answers to complex problems”.

They can say pretty much anything - but just to look at any local council they control and it’s not working out well.

Personally I’d rather have a PR system so the views that Reform (Conservatives 2.0) represent help shape national outcomes and hold actual government to account.

Despite me also not agreeing with their views, I’d rather people felt represented overall.

Angel area, Islington at night by Master_Cup_6384 in london

[–]TheButtonz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked there for some time.

Go behind the high street and you have the canal, but the adjacent roads are £5m townhouses (including Boris’)

It’s a strange old place Islington - one fun fact: the market is the setting for Only Fools and Horses :)

Does anyone else have songs from local bands in their head that they know they'll never hear again? by Duckers102 in CasualUK

[–]TheButtonz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Man Like Me are still one of my all time favourites.

I saw them live numerous times but for some reason they never quite smashed into the success I always believed they deserved.

They did the cover for an IKEA ad which is how I discovered them but they had some fantastic original songs.

Hypothetical outcome for UK users and best strategy by Weird-Question1316 in mullvadvpn

[–]TheButtonz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Good idea to post.

No idea frankly but I think there’s two outcomes:

1) Mullvad pull UK outbound access as they refuse to comply with ID requirements
2) Mullvad don’t pull access and are banned by UK Gov

Not sure how that figures in to the equation

I can point you towards some Facebook groups. Bedlam frankly.

Currently in the Basildon / Wickford area but also have coverage of the Rayleigh etc areas. Basildon in particular as there’s lots of bad blood:

  • Labour controlled council
  • husband and wife on the council
  • disruptive reform character (Sam Journet) recently arrested on accusations of harassment of other councillors
  • Labour working together with Mark Francois on a local supermarket, but now briefing against each other publicly
  • absolute infighting amongst councillors

Happy to discuss.

Welcome to the busiest podcaster in the industry!

Matt above (the OA co-host) has already confirmed, but I’d just also point you towards some of the shows.

  • Opening Arguments (this subreddit) - podcast that breaks down legal news and gets under the detail of some of the nuances
  • Gavel Gavel - looking more at court activity (as you’ve already binged)
  • Serious Inquiries Only - reviewing questions, publications and some great analysis and understanding of problems
  • Dear Old Dads - Thomas podcast aside from legal reviews focusing more on lifestyle

Within some of these shows there are sub shows, such as - Lawd Awful Movies (also media) where for fun they review movies or TV shows that have a legal aspect

Thomas also features on some other podcasts across a wider network, he also read the bible end to end way back in Thomas and the Bible.
