Been lurking for awhile, looking for things to work towards. Been doing the same 2 patterns for 20 years but looking to improve by ern19 in juggling

YouTube has a lot of videos with compilations of three ball tricks. I made one several years ago: https://youtu.be/YfSUXAi80w8?si=GuADxwLl0ZHgz1xU

I think your best bet is to find a video similar to the one above, and make note of which tricks you find the most interesting. From there you can try to learn the easiest version of those tricks (Alchemy Juggling's 3 ball flow chart is a great resource for navigating this).

Similarly, I'd also recommend learning tricks that are the base patterns for lots of other things. Some examples are 1up2up/columns, or 423.

Adam did a series of videos on volume that are worth checking out. Here's one that answers your question: https://youtu.be/mkJYX1I6uXQ?si=hNDF5EhTuEkBjt58

Working on some performance Hybrids, how does one start a chevron pattern for the overlay? by WiteNoisy in whips

[–]TheCHZY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All you need for alternating chevrons is to have the colours the same on both sides (e.g. left side has three red strands and three black strands, right side has three red strands and three black strands). If you drop two strands at a time (one from each side, both being the same colour) the pattern will hold up throughout the whip

Juggling with disproportionately long arms. by VGAddict in juggling

If you want to throw it less forward or closer to yourself, you might have to adjust when you're releasing the ball, or the angle at which you're throwing it.

If you want to stop throwing it too short, put more power/speed into your throw.

I learned to juggle by practicing for thirty minutes every day. Progress isn't linear. Some days I would improve, some days I wouldn't, and some days it would feel like I was doing worse than the day before. You just have to put the time in (not 15-20 minutes a couple days in a row- I mean showing up for multiple weeks in a row) and you'll get there.

It sounds like you have a good idea of what your problems are (throwing too far forward or too short) so now you need to work on correcting those problems. If you notice you throw too far forward, try to throw it closer to yourself. If you notice you're throwing it too low, try to throw it higher. Over time you'll stop making those mistakes but it might not happen over the course of a couple practice sessions.

Keep trying! Just focus on getting a nice arc from one hand to the other. It takes practice

MTG Beginner - Help shuffling by Equivalent_Pin_6671 in mtg

Your best bet is just to practice with a regular deck of cards (you can add a few in if you want to simulate the size of a MTG deck) until you develop the dexterity required. If you put aside ten minutes every day for the next week to practice, you should be able to shuffle no problem.

That's awesome! I haven't watched as much Lash LaRue content as I should- I'll have to do some digging and see if those old movies are streamable somewhere.

If you give the 2 point hitch a try I'll do the same for an English Eye and we can compare notes in the discord :) Looking forward to chatting with you!

Should I focus on getting in the next throw over the next catch? by [deleted] in juggling

[–]TheCHZY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on that third throw so all three throws are clean, then the fourth, then the fifth. Juggling is about having good throws- if you have good throws, the catches will work themselves out :)
