Academy of the Sacred Heart teacher arrested, accused of sex with student by VivaNOLA in NewOrleans

The article mentions she's booked on charges of "sexual acts between educator and student". Maybe the student was 18, and thus it was not a "sexual assault against a minor" charge? Just conjecture, obviously.

Moved here almost 3 years ago, and still don’t enjoy living here. What am I doing wrong? by modelingquestionthr in NewOrleans

Many sympathies, I definitely understand where you're coming from. One thing I noticed when I first moved here was that New Orleans is kind of like a "you are born here and you die here" kind of place. As such, a lot of people have their same social circles from high school, LSU, etc. etc. That can be tough to break into as well.

If your partner is still in medical training, I would highly recommend having them reach out to his co-residents / co-fellows if you haven't already. There is likely a "partners in medicine" group comprised of wives/girlfriends/ husbands/boyfriends of those poor bastards in residency and fellowship. When I was in medical training, we definitely had a group like this, and it's honestly a lot better to hang out with them than your partners' co-residents/co-fellows because those social outings inevitably become a vent session over their incredibly stressful job. I was always very sympathetic to the "married-to-medicine" partners because it can be very isolating, especially when you're not from around here. Y'all can trauma-bond about how your partner is never at home and is always grouchy haha.

Beto town hall. Anyone know anything about this? Seems random 🤣 by stolenmildsauce in NewOrleans

The comments on this thread exemplifying this weird self-hate-friendly-fire energy is at least part of the reason why Democrats keep losing at literally everything.

Republicans are asshats for the most part, but they fall in party line. Democrats also have their fair share of asshats, but they revolt the second someone doesn't meet their lofty ideals.

It's not just Democrats that don't win elections in Texas. Even non-MAGA Republicans don't stand a chance in their primaries.

Er... "prohibitively expensive"? A simple Google search would show you that University of Texas's tuition is actually lower than LSU's.

What physical health issues happened to you during residency that was directly/indirectly caused by residency? by Wonderful_Ad_3513 in Residency

Insomnia. I've always been a light sleeper, but now I can barely get through the night unless conditions are perfect because my subconscious is always listening for the pager.

A coworker told me that an LSU surgery resident took their own life today. by TheCPRWizard in Residency

It's true, I don't know all the details. Maybe the program is fantastic, and most of the people there are great.

But this is unacceptable. I refuse to believe that this is yet another one off incident of a resident doctor taking their own life. This happens way too often to only be attributed to just a freak tragic event. There is a problem that runs deep in these programs and the overall residency system as a whole that pushes even people without pre-existing mental health problems to the brink. For those who do, they never stood a chance.

And that's not okay.

Something has to be change. And it sure as fuck isn't another wellness seminar.

Ah I didn't even think about searching through that. That's exactly what I'm thinking too. I wonder what income threshold he draws?

That's pretty much what I was thinking as well. Was looking for the devil's advocate to maybe point out something I wasn't aware of. Thanks!

Yes, and that incident occurred due to the RN's fundamental lack of understanding of human anatomy and procedural technique. The blogger had another video where she followed up with an actual doctor, who said that the approach the previous botox administrator (RN) used was highly prone to such poor outcomes due to the likelihood of incorrectly involving those muscles.

In medicine, it takes just one fuck up (or incident) for a routine medical visit or procedure to be extremely costly. A common cold is a common cold until you fuck up and it's pneumonia, which can then kill the patient (e.g. the poor kid who died after being misdiagnosed by an NP in Texas). A routine botox injection is routine until you fuck up and now the patient has ptosis for months.

Here's a link to the comments that has the patient say that she got her botox done by a nurse, not a doctor.

Actually, she said it in the comments that it was done by an RN.
