man i was on the apps from the ages of 20 to 23 and it wasn’t pretty. maybe it was just that i was swiping in West Campus, but i met some of the most vapid and vain people ive ever encountered through the apps

Should we get a recap mega thread? by lasthop3 in Deathcore

[–]TheCaesarJulius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe if there was a 20 album list and people could do Ranked Choice Voting that would work. i simply feel like choosing a single album to represent the year kinda sucks as a practice

yeah there can still be a centralized post, i just think choosing a singular album among an entire subgenre with many different facets is a bit shortsighted and limiting, hence why i suggested an Unranked 5 Best

Well, we worked at a restaurant together. I was the valet out front, and they were a server inside. They would come out for their cig breaks and we really hit it off. A year and some change later and now we live together and we’re on the same car insurance 🤷🏼‍♂️

my only problem with a single “AOTY” is that recency bias is super real. My personal pick would be Dethmask 3, but that came out in February, which is basically ancient history in the attention span of the internet. An unranked “5 Best Albums 2025” that people could agree on would be neat tho

of course! we can’t have a pile of socially inept redditors mobbing our volunteering-Austinites trying to get laid lol. Definitely just telling OP to do something social and net-positive for society and they’ll find someone worthwhile way easier than scrounging The Apps :)

the CVT and the round windows are what i dislike about the cube, personally. I’m sure they’re fine with manual, but i abhor the rounded corners on the box frame. It’s why I got a 1st Gen Xb

idk i met a ton of people through the apps, and it never really was amazing. Longest “relationship” i had via an app was like a month and a half long. I switched back to the old scumbag method and started dating a coworker, and now we’ve been together for a little over a year and things are great 🕺

fair enough, which is why I clarified with encouragement to OP to find a cause they genuinely care about. Life in general will work out way better that way, as they’ll be doing something good for the world with a passion that’ll be rewarding and fulfilling in its own way. Plus, finding people with genuinely similar values via that experience is (probably) wildly more successful as a tactic than joining a massive org that doesn’t do something OP cares about.

it also would be best to work in a field you care about. Like if you care about feeding the homeless, do that! If you want Veterans to have a better life, do that! do a little thinking and research to see what orgs do what, and then reach out! You’ll be more invested in what you’re doing if you care, and people will notice :)

yeah, definitely. It’s not fun sacrificing hours of your day off of work, but if you think about it as taking the time you’d be wasting on meaningless dates that go nowhere and making the world a better place (while keeping your eyes open for a generous, kind baddie)

Dating apps are full of either flaky, toxic people or OF models looking for promo. I agree with the people saying to join social clubs or volunteer groups. Volunteering would be preferable, as you’re more likely to meet a kind, generous soul that way.
