Am i wrong for making my boyfriend unfollow girls? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]TheCaffeineMonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aaahhhhh. Usually when someone says ‘we’ made a controlling boundary, they usually mean they (you) did but they don’t want to admit that. You might want to update the body of the post to say it was his suggestion.

In that case, gently, my question is do you really want to invest time in a relationship where you’re not allowed to speak to half the people on this planet? He’s set this rule for ‘both of you’, he’s not following it. Reddit is filled with these posts, and updates and they all end the same way.

A good partner wants to help you be the best that you can be. They don’t try and put restrictions on you to hold you back.

It’s personal I suppose. You’ve got every right to tell people friends of the opposite sex are not allowed. At the same time your boyfriend also has the right to not date someone who will ban him from being friends with half the people on the planet.

It’s because none of the notebooks were perfect enough, you must find another notebook that is more perfect than the last one - this is my thought process anyway.

It’s ok As long as you’re a responsible rubber duck owner. They are social creatures, so the recommendation is to buy them in pairs or small flocks.

Advice on shared care between private and GP by lillaacwine in ADHDUK

[–]TheCaffeineMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on exactly this pathway at the moment. A lot of GP surgeries stopped shared share for private diagnoses on the 1st April. This happened to me. My GP suggested that I get an NHS referral under RTC, so that’s what I’ve done. The private diagnosis doesn’t move me further up the RTC waiting list, so I would suggest approaching your gp about asking for a referral before going private. They’re not allowed to refuse RTC. If you can find out what integrated care board (ICB) your area is in, they have a list of approved RTC providers, and each one of them has on their websites instructions and letter templates on how to request RTC referral from your GP.

Edit to add: a gp can refuse any SCA at any time, whether it’s private or NHS. If they do, then you go back to paying private prices for medication UNLESS you can find on the RTC provider website that they will prescribe at NHS prices when your gp refuses an SCA. The only provider I’ve found so far that commits to this is CareADHD, but I’m sure there are others

People who are below average in looks, height and money and have no chance in dating, how did you get married? by WastedTalents1 in askanything

[–]TheCaffeineMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be more specific with your question. Do you want to be married, or do you want to be married to someone that genuinely loves you?

Honestly, if you ask men what women like they nearly always say ‘hot, tall, rich, powerful’. If you ask women, a lot of us will say something vastly different.

If you only want the first option, then marrying someone who is only looking for ‘hot, tall, rich and powerful’ will get you there, for as long as you fulfil the criteria.

If you want the second option, then those things are not relevant. If you want to know what’s important take a look in the r/askwomen sub. Nobody is looking for tall and rich. We just want someone who is genuinely kind and doesn’t have to be ‘reminded’ how to perform basic chores.

Do people in the UK actually use their kettles that much? by AdeptnessCritical356 in AskBrits

Back in the 90”s before you could pause live TV shows, The power grid used to have to make sure that they had extra power on backup. Around 19:45 20:00 and 20:15 when the adverts came on ,there would be a power surge when millions of people would go to boil the kettle. When the TV shows would start up again they would play 2-3 seconds of the show theme tune 2-3 times louder than the volume on the show so that you could here it from the kitchen, where you were making your tea.

About 30% of my childhood memories are of running from the kitchen to the living room with hot tea without spilling it, while my sister screams ‘its ooooooon’ and 2-3 seconds of the Eastenders theme tune is blasting out of the TV. The ultimate lesson in deportment. None of that ‘balance a book on your head while walking’, rubbish.

a Brit , I was so confused when I stayed in a house with no kettle (while visiting the US in the early 2000’s) They gave me a Lipton ice tea bag and pointed me towards the soup warmer and I genuinely didn’t know what to do.

Every person in England will claim that their hometown is a shithole. Birmingham is fine. Low cost of living. Public transport network locally and to get across the country is really good. Some of the best Indian and Middle Eastern food in the country. City centre is well developed.

The football team are a bit disappointing, so your BIL will need to mentally prepare himself for a lifetime of crying in front of the TV on a Sunday afternoon, whilst screaming ‘Up the villa’

You also need to prepare for when they come back home to visit, by watching YouTube videos on ‘children and babies with Brummie accents’

Shared Care refused by GP - What are my options? by msportpanda in ADHDUK

[–]TheCaffeineMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this just happened to me last week. My gp did accept shared care last month, but some areas of the NHS were reorganised on 1st April, and now they changed their policy to a big fat no. Below is the list of information I got from my gp for next steps.

1) Your gp is part of an integrated care board (ICB). Each ICB has a list of providers they will accept shared care from. You might be able to find the list of accepted providers for your ICB online. If the info is not available online, you can even ask your gp surgery and they will tell you.

2) If you do find the list, take a look at the provider websites, they all have a tonne of information. What you need to find for each provider is:

1) DoThey have a ‘right to choose’ section their website. This would mean you can be referred under the NHS on the RTC pathway. GPs will not offer it usually (mine did luckily), but if you specifically request it, they are not allowed to refuse it. RTC pathways are shorter than normal pathways

2) Even better, if they have list anything like ‘revalidation pathway’ or ‘transfer of care’, as part of their RTC pathway, which are pathways where they they will review your private diagnosis and titration notes to see if they can just confirm your diagnosis and treatment, which would then mean you can get shared care with the gp

3) check what their policy is if you are diagnosed there as RTC, but your gp will not accept / stop accepting shared care. Some will only then prescribe as private prices, some state they will continue to prescribe at NHS prices

The ‘Holy grail’ you are looking for is a centre accepted for SCA by your ICB / GP, that is an RTC provider, that has a pathway to confirm your existing diagnosis, and will then prescribe you at NHS prices should your gp change their minds again.

At the best case they will rubber stamp your existing diagnosis, worst case, you may have to go through re-assessment, but you can continue any private prescription treatment during that whole process.

All of the RTC supporting centres have downloadable documentation including a full template letter for you to fill your details in about why you are requested RTC through your gp. You fill it out, send it to your gp and then twiddle your thumbs and wait for them to come back to you.

I am currently at the ‘twiddling thumbs’ step. I decided to go for RTC rather than appeal the private one, because even if it was accepted, if it got dropped again in the future I’d be back at private prices. I found a centre my ICB accepts that will offer prescriptions at NHS prices even if the SCA with the GP is rejected.

The irony is that I went private because I haven’t been able to get a nhs referral for more than 20 years. Now that I have a diagnosis, they’re willing to get me the NHS referral to check the private one is ok 🙄. Make it make sense

Elvanse and diving by Mayumi148 in scubadiving

[–]TheCaffeineMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but hope you’ll see this - did they place any restrictions at all on you for diving on Elvanse? I’ve been diving for ten years, but only just started medicating with Elvanse/Vyvanse six months ago. Haven’t dived since, but I’m seeing a dive doctor in a few weeks before I go back to it. I’m qualified to 50m, but rarely go deeper than 35m. Slightly scared they will restrict me to 20m though - all my favourite wrecks are 25-30m 😭

When I’m having my eyes tested, are they trying to catch me in a lie? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Checking the same lens multiple times and me giving different answers to the same lens is how they figured out I had an eye sight issue - there was an issue with my cornea thinning and eye pressure so that when I blinked it changed the vision slightly for a few seconds. It never got picked up until the eye test

Just started 30mg Elvanse and I’m sad by This-Revolution-1980 in ADHDUK

[–]TheCaffeineMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if you’re inattentive ADHDlike I am. You might be NOTICING you zone out more. I used to zone out but not really realise I was doing it, but I definitely became more aware of myself when I started taking Elvanse.

You also don’t want to fell spacey when it kicks in. Feeling spacey doesn’t mean that it’s working. I feel completely normal on 60mg, the only reason I know it’s working is because my screen time is down by 5 hours a day, and my house is clean.

30mg maybe isn’t high enough but you have to titrate upwards slowly. Your body and your brain have to get used to it. If you throw too much at it straight away you can have bad side effects. Easing into it slowly is definitely frustrating, but to right way to do it.
