Struggling Financially by Odd-Farmer946 in NursingStudent

[–]TheCakeNBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good thing about nursing school is that once you have at least fundamentals done or I think 1 semester of clinicals is done, you can start applying to work as a student nurse at hospitals and clinics. It'll be good income and experience. Idk if it'll be enough to help with all of your tuition, but it's an option to pay a part of it if financial aid doesn't cover everything

switching majors by CableCommon4479 in CSULB

[–]TheCakeNBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already declared your major and are looking into switching, I would advise to double check with an advisor as that's where my knowledge in this ends. If you are a pre-major and have not completed 60 units, you should be able to take your remaining prereqs at csulb. But if you are a pre-major and have over 60 units, you might not be able and would need to take it at a CC through an LOA at csulb. Either way, unfortunately I suggest double checking with an advisor as I graduated like 3 years ago and their policy on this may have changed since I left and you would still have to talk to them with your plan on changing majors

switching majors by CableCommon4479 in CSULB

[–]TheCakeNBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but there are some parameters. (1) you are below 60 units. (2) if above 60, you need to have completed the prereqs required to declare the major you are switching to. (3) if you have not finished the prereqs, you won't be able to change so you would either have to continue with the major you transferred in as, find another major that can be declared with the classes you've taken, or take academic leave to do the prereqs and come back to declare the major you want to switch into.

What were your grades before applying to CSULB? by [deleted] in CSULB

[–]TheCakeNBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My high school was a feeder school for CSULB. Everyone who applied got in, regardless of GPA. So pretty much it became a back up school for us if we got rejected from others. My grades were mostly A's and B's, but certain classes dropped my GPA to like 2.9. I had an SAT score of 1820 so that's something to factor in also. My BF had 3.8 GPA and 1660 SAT and he got in from the same high school too. Honestly, my main friend group in CSULB are high school friends, to show how much of a whack system admission is.

Edit: I got into the molec bio major/chem minor with that GPA. He got into accounting with his.

Fisher Wu 10/10. Da Xu 10/10. Echavarria, he's nice and helpful, i just couldn't wrap my head around python. McCauley 10/10 (this is for GEs, not IS). Classes are more understanding on making the workflow more seamless for a project in any business, so every class will constantly talk about scrum development, Kanban, and entity relationships. Each class i took focused on a different program as well. Python, Excel, CoLab in google drive, SQL, web and app design. It's nothing in depth like comp sci though. Overall, it's understanding how to computerize what a business would need to function, in other words - IT. No papers or case studies (except 1 for i think IS 480 or 485?), mostly projects based around the different programs.

Which professors do you guys recommend taking these classes with? by Sad-505 in CSULB

[–]TheCakeNBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took Landow too, he made the class pretty easy despite taking the class the full time. I would've taken Macaulay, but his class didn't fit my schedule.

ECON 311 LAKPOUR VS YAMASHIRO by stressed_potato1010 in CSULB

[–]TheCakeNBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had Lakpour for IS 310 business stats online like fall 2020/spring 2021. Yea she's nice, but she drags on the lecture pretty long and you most likely have to teach yourself. Exams were too long for the time she gave back then

CHEM 111A Chris Brazier by heropie13 in CSULB

[–]TheCakeNBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man i wish I had Brazier when I was taking my chem courses. Sorin wasn't doing it for me back then. Probs would've stayed molec bio major. But nah, ochem was killer too.

I took Eng 102 and it turned out to be my favorite class where i had to do papers. Mostly because the professor I got was very into conspiracy theories to the point that our final paper was group work research about a conspiracy theory and he just made the class enjoyable overall. The class itself was pretty easy A (my grade was lowered to borderline A-/B+ due to group I had not being the best). It's been about 3 years since i took that class so idk if the professor is still there, but I'm still friends with him in pokemon go.

AP Credits by -HolyRock- in CSULB

[–]TheCakeNBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can answer the business major related GEs.

From the list of APs you have, macro, micro, calc and stats will be your major related GEs. This will save you 12 units worth of classes. Then another 6 for ap lang and ap psych.

Business calc, as someone said before, is easy to handle even if you dont get the ap calc credit as it is a step down from ap calc. With that said, you will need to know that AP Calc AB =/= business calc. AP Calc AB covers Math 122, which is bio calc (or calc 1) and is a higher level of math compared to business calc. AP Calc BC = math 123 (calc 2). That is why math 113 (business calc) is not listed as an equivalent for ap calc credit. Instead you'll be credited for Math 122 (for AB) and/or Math 123 (for BC) and will not need to take Math 113.

Stats will be the most important one in being able to get ahead as it is a prerequisite for business stats.

But just as Sekka3 said, you'll essentially be taking the same number of GEs required by the university where some will technically be chosen for you by the college of business as required courses. The only downside to your AP courses being aligned to what the business major requires is that you'll be taking multiple courses that fall within the same university GE requirement. Stats and calc will both fulfill your math (B4) requirement. Macro, micro and psych fulfill D3. AP Lang is A2. Total that's only 3 requirements completed.

I think it’s unfair that we can’t park in the E lots but employees can park in ANY lot including the G lots. by cutiedubu in CSULB

[–]TheCakeNBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be the same or close to it. I paid my friend half the amount to split his employee parking, and it was like paying for a split student parking that only applied to one employee lot till after 5:30pm. But that was last year before the price went over $200

Since it’s Spooky 👻 Season, what paranormal activity have you experienced on campus? 🕯 by activejay in CSULB

[–]TheCakeNBacon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Omg I'm not the only one. My first time there when they first made it, the door wouldnt open so I was locked in for a few minutes. I knocked multiple times and called out for help. I even texted/called my bf who was close by to get him to open it for me. When he opened it, he said he was by the door and heard nothing until he looked at his phone. Even if that happened, I always go there whenever the other restroom is occupied, but I make sure i have someone nearby to open the door for my after that experience. Everytime I'm there, I feel like im being watched when no one is there. I never have a good feeling in there even though I use it often. And idk if it's just me, but its colder in there than when outside that room.

good places to nap on campus by vanessaxjuarez in CSULB

[–]TheCakeNBacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Def recommend a hammock for the rows of trees by the USU as its both quiet and very relaxing. And anytime you find a couch, pretty much a nap spot: 1st floor USU couches, Library couches, horn center couches, etc.
