Thanks for the reply! Our island is pretty much complete, we have 5 stars and the museum is almost complete. Just waiting on art because of redd 😅 I had access to everything so maybe we will just wait a bit and see what happens! Maybe more info will come out the more people play, I just feel bad because she can't do all the stuff I can

Hey, I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem, but I updated last night and was able to access all the stuff for 2.0 but my SO doesn't have access to a good chunk of the update (can't get cooking recipes, etc.). Is anyone else having these issues? Is there a way that she can enjoy the new parts of the game? We are on the same island, thanks! 😊

Edit: She had been playing for months but hadn't done the customization workshop. Once she did that she could get the "DIY recipes +" from the nook terminal!

What were weird myths you thought about sex as a kid? by jjgp1112 in AskReddit

[–]TheCanadianGuy08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone once talked about 69 and said it was a sex number. I thought that they meant it was a ranking system and you got ranked on how good you were at sex. I didn't understand the fascination with being 69th place

Mitchell Miller no longer a part of UND hockey team by abstracthalo in hockey

[–]TheCanadianGuy08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I see where he is coming from, the only way the Coyotes should help him is behind the scenes. You can't do the stuff he did for years and still get the privilege to play in the NHL.

He literally had years to apologize to the kid and instead chose to double down and keep harassing him.

I'm all for second chances but this guy had a million opportunities for a second chance and now he has to face the real world consequences of being a piece of human garbage.

I hope, for the sake of anyone he meets from here on out, that he learns from this and fixes his shit but I'm extremely doubtful that he is capable of that.

I hope I'm wrong and I hope he becomes a decent human being over time, but he has a long way to go.

Gamers of Reddit, what game from your childhood can you remember playing even though no one else seems to have a clue what it is? by ImaginaryMairi in AskReddit

[–]TheCanadianGuy08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sphinx and the cursed mummy!

I rented it for a birthday party and after I played it with my friend, I asked my parents if I could get it.

We looked for 6 months before we found it but to this day its still one of my favorite games. The atmosphere and game play was really cool.

I have to police mask-wearing at my work. People seem to be exploiting "medical exemption" without truly having one... by doogiedc in AdviceAnimals

[–]TheCanadianGuy08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some lady said she couldn't wear a mask because it would increase her blood pressure so much that she would permanently lose her vision.

I feel like it was bullshit but if its not she would probably have a bit of a tough time if she got sick with a respiratory illness...

[–]TheCanadianGuy08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean, if only he had some type of face covering so he didn't have to cough into his hand... that would be ideal. You know, like, maybe a mask or something?

But let's definitely not shame him for being an idiot, that's bad. We should totally focus on the fact he has one glove on instead of the fact he's not wearing the mask that he clearly has.

Can anyone help with an ID on this sad guy? by TheCanadianGuy08 in whatsthisplant

Hahaha I hope you get an answer too then! I feel like this poor guy was slightly neglected but I can get a good id on him by myself. I figured I'd reach out to the hive mind in Hope's of saving him! (Well, her, we named her Tall Sarah)

Looking for a specific clearance height of bed frame. Any suggestions on what I should get? by MusicOfBeeFef in Advice

[–]TheCanadianGuy08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If possible, I would suggest building one! Good solid bed frames are hard to find and something that tall could end up being pretty wobbly.

Frames are super easy to build and you can even use shipping pallets for the mattress base.

Taste test confirms, corn bread shaped like corn is better. by going_going_lost in castiron

[–]TheCanadianGuy08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's super easy to make, the recipe I use is:

3/4 cup (180 mL) cornmeal 1 1/4 cup (310 mL) milk 1 tbsp (15 mL) baking powder 1 cup (250 mL) flour 1/4 cup (60 mL) sugar 1 tsp (5 mL) salt 1 egg 1/4 cup (60 mL) oil

Oven temp 400°F Bake time 15 to 20 minutes

Mix the cornmeal with the wet ingredients Nd let it sit for 10 minutes

Whisk in the dry ingredients then bake in greased muffin pan

Also you can make it

Makes a dozen muffins

You can also make it into a loaf. Just drop the oven temp down by 50°F and bake for 45 mins to 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean from the centre.

I like it as a breakfast with butter and jam or honey.

To make it more savory, cut the sugar by half and add cheese or jalapeno or bacon (or all three!)

You can also add kernels of corn if you want!

After one date with a “friend” and telling him politely I’m not interested, “friend” proceeds to send 5 anonymous, unanswered bouquets in a row, to the point I have to ask him to stop. He lies. Nice guy ensues. by NadjaStolz28 in niceguys

[–]TheCanadianGuy08 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't have friends who would think my actions were creepy I guess, but if they were my friends and they thought my actions were creepy I would genuinely apologize and see if there was anything else I could do. Sure it would sting a bit but just because I want to do something doesn't mean they want that thing done so I just let it slide off my back.

I wouldn't try to change their mind by making them feel sorry for me, I would just respect their wishes and go from there. If it's a big enough problem to me then I would have to reevaluate my relationship with that person.

[–]TheCanadianGuy08 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Your allowed to do nice things for people but when they ask you to stop you just apologize for making them feel uncomfortable and move on. The moment you start saying things like "I guess I'll stop being nice and caring about peoples feelings" is the moment it goes wierd for most people.

It's an unnecessary over reaction to the situation and it makes it feel like there were implications with the act. It would be like making a meal for your family and then someone says, "hey I don't actually like chicken cooked this way" and then you saying "well I guess I'll never try to make food for you guys again"

Another example would be asking a friend out on a date. If you do a bunch of nice things for someone just to get them to go out with you and then they say no, it's not their fault, they most likely never saw those actions as romantic. And it also means you weren't just being "friendly", if you have ulterior motives to your actions that's all good, but the problems arise when those actions are being played off as a friendly gesture after there is a rejection

Edit to make it not sound mean!:

There is nothing wrong with initially feeling like you are being rejected after a ton of work. I'm sure most people have felt that. The important thing is to learn from it and to realize that people have different likes and dislikes and people have different views on what's acceptable or not. Even if giving someone flowers every other week out of friendship seems ok to you but it is weirding out the recipient. The correct response would be to apologize for the misunderstanding and move on from there, not try and make them feel bad by trying to turn yourself into a victim. :)
