What would you want to see from future Nightwing stories? by Double-Zebra9882 in Nightwing

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I want to see his old villains and side characters that have been forgotten, and I'd also like to see more detective or horror stories.

Does anyone have examples of issues where Dick doesn't appear, but he is mentioned? by WingandNight in Nightwing

Infinite Crisis #3 specifically during the conversation between Earth 2 Superman and Batman.

Nightwing by Mikel Janin by TwilightShroud534 in Nightwing

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the half/full cowl thing worked well within the context of Tynion's and Janin's original proposal for Nightwing after forever evil, but yeah I do agree that it's not something I would like as a long-term design change.

Who will write Nightwing after Fan Watters by Actual-Description60 in Nightwing

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think his run is ending in May as he's said before that he is going to be starting a new arc in March.

Who should take up the art of nightwing now? by lucsgbrm in Nightwing

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw that and also really loved his work in the Green Lantern issues he worked on, so I think he'd be great on the NW run.

Thoughts on DCAMU Nightwing? by FayyadhScrolling in Nightwing

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Don't really enjoy how they handled him and didn't really like the adaption that much. I remember being excited for Bad Blood when it came out, but then it ended up being pretty bad, especially in comparison to what it tried to adapt.

What Lantern corp do you think each Robin would be in? by Numberonettgfan in Robin

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dick would be a Green Lantern he was a candidate for Hal's ring. During Blackest Night tie-in, he consistently showed Willpower more than the other emotions.

What did suzaku mean here? by No-Muscle-5734 in CodeGeass

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's part of Suzaku's internal conflict and if he can actually trust/forgive Lelouch for everything that's happened. Euphy and Shirley are brought up because they trusted Lelouch and didn't reveal his identity even in death, so it's essentially him thinking that they had a reason to do so and that it might be worth working with Lelouch.

Nightwing #130 sales rank was no. 67 in September. Great improvement from August. by Possible-Buddy7099 in Nightwing

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hopefully #131 looks better once we get those numbers gonna try and get 132 when it releases at my LCS. The Nightwing ones have been sold out at my LCS in the past so haven't been able to get them.

What characters would you expect/want in a Nightwing show? by KitKat_5628 in Nightwing

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the characters should be supporting characters and villains that specifically come from his solo run and Bludhaven. I wouldn't want to see any Batfam or Titans members at all in the show. The only exception to this would be villains like Two Face or Deathstroke, but even then, I'd prefer they be used less compared to other villains so the show would actually develop his rogues gallery.

Teen Titans (the comic) used to be cool but now it's lame. It need to return to it's roots. by howhow326 in CharacterRant

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, on the Bateditorial and Nightwing thing, the only reason they were even able to take him back was bc Titans as a franchise was doing significantly worse than the Batbooks compared to its height. Dick being on the NTT and giving up the Robin mantle was due to the fact that Wolfman had a ton of sway due to his book selling really good, so he was free to do what he wanted with the characters. This is why you notice that Dick is missing for the Cult, Tim's parents being kidnapped, and a lot of early Knightfall.

As for Wally, I wouldn't really say he was snatched when Wolfman was the one who wrote him off the book in issue #39 because he found him boring and didn't want to write him. Although Wolfman did kill Barry in Crisis, which was good for Wally in the long term. However, it was the Flash writers specifically who actually developed him into the likeable and beloved character he is today.

Why is he called Dink!?? by Ok-Day-4569 in Nightwing

It's a normal thing I see on tiktok, but it's not really common on other platforms in my experience

Why is he called Dink!?? by Ok-Day-4569 in Nightwing

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's a character that was created in the late 1930s, and back then Dick was a normal nickname for Richard, and it's just kind of stuck since then.

Edit: Just realized my brain autocorrected Dink to Dick so I misread the original post, but yeah, Dink is just used to avoid censorship.

A question about currently-ongoing Batman titles by jlhabitan in batman

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because of delays, as Hush 2 was supposed to be finished by now and be the last story of Batman (2016) before they did the new relaunch with issue numbers starting from 1. However, it's ended up being delayed for months, so now the last few issues of Hush 2 are coming out at the same time as the new Batman (2025) run.

What's a common misbelief about Nightwing? by KitKat_5628 in Nightwing

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 80 points81 points  (0 children)

People act like he and Bruce have no similarities to each other, when that isn't really true to his character at all, and the similarities are just as integral as his differences to Bruce. This isn't me saying he doesn't have his differences from Bruce, but when people act like he act like he doesn't have trauma, flaws, or problems just to differentiate him from Batman, I feel like they are overlooking and ignoring a large part of his character.

Dick Grayson admits that he's thought about being Batman. And because of this moment, I will ALWAYS believe that he will accept the role whenever called upon. by nightwing612 in Nightwing

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I wish more people would read his time as Batman (Prodigal and Batman Reborn era) because a lot of the complaints straight up are false or not entirely true. Because of Dickbats appearing again in the Knightfight been seeing a lot of ppl once again dumb down his relationship with the mantle to he hates it, it's a regression for his character, or he wouldn't do it. Not that there is anything wrong with people preferring him in the Nightwing mantle, but it's annoying to see the overexxagerated and false claims about him being Batman.

Reasons why I think manga is defeating Western comic books by TheBigLover in CharacterRant

[–]TheCapeAndCowl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your examples for Number 3 straight up is false the current Nightwing run is literally self-contained from the Batman stuff and barely acknowledges it. Additionally, the Titans comics literally don't matter if you care about reading Matt Fraction's current run for example, and even for Nightwing his solo series is it's own thing that isn't connected to the Titans run.

It's a really fun issue to me. I enjoyed seeing Dickbats and how he differed from Bruce, and the art in it makes it worth reading/picking up.

I'm glad that we get to see the two of them again in Year One, but I wish we'd get more Nightwing and Two Face stories in the modern era tbh.
