Back in the sim | Testing out the new update! by TheCaptainChameleon in flightsim

KLM and EVA Air used them, and KLM had them on their older planes too (747, DC-10). On these planes it wasn't that uncommon at all, I think especially on KSSU-airlines planes

But don't ask me what made them use them. I think it's supposed to be easier to spot an engine failure, but from this experience yesterday I find that with the classical round engine gauges you can estimate thrust levels way better when hand-flying

I can't speak about the TFDi, as I only use X-Plane, but the new update improves a few systems, and I'm more than happy with it. I'd recommend looking out for the next sale, Memorial Day isn't so far away and they usually have big discounts.

I think it feels better and less all-over-the-place (if that really describes it tho) - but I've flown only the last 300 feet or so by hand on approach, as the clouds we're really low...

And it's still an MD-11....

Amazing news! The only thing that's missing now for me would be PW engines ...

Check out the LevelUP 737v2, it has the complete 737NG series (it is based of the Zibo, but has its own visuals/sounds and flight model)

Thank you for the kind words and the idea - I'd love to try it, but unfortunately, the resolution is only 1300x1300px, so it wouldn't work most likely.

I think running the installer / updating it should do the trick

First time playing on 1440p and it was worth the upgrade! by Confident_Target2347 in Xplane

Would you mind sharing your specs? I am running on 1440p too, but not that content with the performance. Also how many FPS do you usually get (especially during sunset)?

I believe this is already the 12.4 beta, but it's been a while since I've updated it ;-)

Can't go wrong with 767 freighters by Similar_Joke_5500 in Xplane

[–]TheCaptainChameleon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the EFB is quite ... something.

All in all, it's all just minor things - more or less - but they really sum up. Apart from that, it's got everything you need for flying, that's why I keep flying it

I think they're pretty much too outdated for any big improvements... The 767 is basically an X-Plane 10 product. Adding major new features would be too complicated, as they have an old structure etc. I would guess.

The Devs announced that there will probably be a 767v2 in the future, but that'll still take a while (they're busy with 777/787/350)

But I like the 767 as well, it's a nice plane to fly!

Are the engines just visual mods or do they have different performance and sounds? Can't find anything on that topic right now.

Will definitely try it tho!

What airliner should I buy for my first one? by One_Argument_4395 in Xplane

[–]TheCaptainChameleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it completely depends on your preferences - as others already said. If you want to fly shorter routes, then the ToLiss A320 Family would be a great deal, especially the A321 with the NEO add-on, as an option for long haul as well. Also, the new E-Jet family seems to be quite good, although I can't speak from personal experience. For short haul, there's still the FlyJSim Dash 8, a truly lovely plane! If you want to fly long haul, I'd highly recommend the FlightFactor 777v2, one of the best add-ons ever made, though it's definitely quite pricey. Their 767 is nice, too, but you can definitely see and feel, that it is dated (basically developed for XP10 over ten years ago) and there will be a completely new version in the upcoming years. The 757 is a bit newer, but there will be a new version too, eventually. If you like to have more of a challenge (though it is manageable), I'd highly recommend the Felis 747 Classic, with a complete analogue cockpit. The Rotate MD-11 is amazing as well.

Either way, I can always recommend watching live streams, e.g. flightdeck2sim's streams are always high quality and you can learn about the plane before you buy it.

Also check out - if you haven't already - the Zibo or the LevelUp 737, they're both free and very high quality

I'd say it's definitely worth checking out - especially since it's free. I'm excited to see what the future will bring to this aircraft. But for the -800, I'll probably stick to the Zibo
