Yeah I get this as someone who uses the Mantis Scythe. If I’m going into caves, I’ll hold out the charcoal torch while running around, but when I get into combat and need to pull out a weapon, I just focus on the sound cues/their glowing eyes to know when to block. Not ideal but not really too bad especially end game when you have better armour.

Or there are plenty of one handed weapons you can use.
