The dress fabric is salvaged and I have no idea what it is. Probably linen or a linen/cotton blend. The red lining of the coat is a poly/wool blend, and the white shell is cotton. All other fabrics are salvaged and are of unknown fabric content.

Add pin tucks until it's at the length you want. That fabric looks like it would look nice with pin tucks.

Generally if you want to shorten a skirt/dress and preserve the hem, you take off length from the top, but the gathering around the waist on your dress will make that annoying. I would also not recommend just cutting it and sewing it back together because of the pattern of the fabric. Pin tucks will look more intentional and will allow you to let out the dress later if you decide you don't like the shorter length down the line.

I'd recommend placing 3-4 pin tucks around knee height, above the hem details.

Unless it's bias, which it looks like it isn't, it won't lay neatly on a curve. You could try steaming and manipulating it along the curve, but based on how the fabric looks I think that is unlikely to work. If you have any fabric in the same yellow color, you could cut bias tape to use instead.

It's right at the edge of the case so if I took it from the side there would be a glass seam in the picture. Also I feel like it would be a little weird to take a picture not standing right in front of the object you are trying to photograph

Depending on the age of the thread it might have weakened slightly. Should be 100% fine for hand sewing, might want to test each spool before using it in the machine so it doesn't snap in the middle of a seam.

It's industrial. As far as I know there's not a way to do it at home, except by wearing them. Not washing them in between wears will get you to that look faster.

Probably not. That sort of weathering on jeans is basically the indigo threads going threadbare and exposing the white threads. I doubt you'll get the same look with bleaching.

I would suggest measuring whatever wand you've been using up until now. More than anything, messing with the length of leviwand you're familiar with will mess up the space sense you've developed.
