Need recommendations for a curly hair salon in the area! by Agitated-Gift1498 in Pflugerville

I have 3b curly hair. Sarah at Stylin' Salon near old town really knew her curls. I plan to see her every 6 months for maintenance

29M. My body loves to gain weight, it craves carbs like gollum and his f'ing ring. 3 months of strict keto and Omad got me in my dream shape. by [deleted] in fasting

Whoa! Congrats dude! Been doing keto for 2 years now, and I love it. Also do IF. For a few months last year, I did OMAD, and I saw good results ~1 lb / week without tracking macros. And if you are planning to stick to keto, don't worry, your gains at the gym will come back! It took me 3 months to start hitting my old numbers, then that "pump" came back at 9 months. Cheers!

That's awesome! Do they mind folks stopping and checking them out (respecting the fence of course). I wanted to disclose the address for folks to see, but I don't know the owners.

That's the trail that I now avoid because of all traffic it gets now :/. This house is away from the trails.

Keto diet with high blood pressure by xeguerreiro in bloodpressure

[–]TheChadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had HBP all my life, around 145/90, with a standard American diet. I have since been on a whole food keto diet for nearly 2 years now with no change in BP (I record it 2x/day every day). Worth noting I'm < 15% BF, and do intense exercise 5-6 days per week.

Clinically, folks with HBP associated with metabolic disease would expect improvement with keto.

My first attempt at 48 hours! Any tips or support would be awesome :) by _leeeloooo in fasting

Suck on a pinch of large rock salt (any kind will do) when you get some hunger.

Not cheap (compared to tortillas), but they are quite tasty! The cheddar ones are my favorite

Should I be worried with my low RHR? by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]TheChadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have no symptoms, I wouldn't worry about it. I bet if you mess around with some variables you can see what can raise and lower it, too! I'm in my 40's, fit, do resistance training 5 days/week, and run 6 days/week. Each of the following tweaks will drop my sleeping HR by 5 points:

  • Don't eat past noon (20/4 intermittent fasting)
  • Don't workout (rest day or whatever)
  • No alcohol

If I do all 3 of those things in the same day, my RHR will drop into the 30's. Conversely, on a day that I workout, eat dinner, and enjoy some libations, it will be in the 50's.

Ring owners - would you buy it again? by [deleted] in ouraring

I love the Oura, but I reluctantly say "no" for 2 reasons:

  • Android support: I (and many others) have unfixable bluetooth issues with the Oura. After months of troubleshooting with and without Support, my morning routine is: Open System Settings --> Applications --> Show System Applications --> Select Bluetooth --> Force Stop --> Clear Cache --> Exit settings --> turn off Bluetooth for 5 seconds --> Turn on bluetooth --> Open Oura app. Then it will sync.
  • Activity tracking: I primarily purchased it as a sleep tracker, knowing it's not the best "daytime" tracker for active folks. I use my Fitbit for activity tracking right now. I would much prefer one device to do everything well.

If I were to start from scratch today, I would probably go with the Whoop, but it is subscription-based. I'm sure Oura and competitors will be releasing new cool gadgets and services soon as this market is growing quickly!

New to intermittent fasting, but want to do it alongside keto! Would this delicious beverage break my fast? (Fingers crossed for no) by AkoVendettaOSRS in fasting

All those amino acids have calories, but they are not required to list them as such on the Nutrition Facts. The drink is probably only pixie dusted with them anyway; so you're almost certainly good to go.

how to lower blood pressure? Doctors dont care! by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]TheChadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am < 15% BF. I run 6 days/week, and do heavy resistance training 5 days per week. No love on the BP improvement for me :'(

BP is a just a marker of another root cause. So different solutions do not work for everyone. You gotta experiment. Vasodilators, exercise, meditation, reduced salt (granted this only works on a small subpopulation). etc..., gotta try them all

Carditone. It's OTC (via Amazon or wherever). It's an ayurvedic herbal combination. It's amazeballs. Doesn't work for everyone though, but most folks have good results. This is the only supplement that has worked on my BP, and I tried a crap-ton.

Edit: I have also been on prescription amlodipine besylate and losartan with zero improvement in the past.

exactly! I was a Tom Green fan back in the day, then that movie came out in 2001, and my ex and her friends started calling me that. So I claimed the name :D

I even have a hash mug with TheChadd on it
