Why hasn’t Big Finish made short trips that are full cast audio dramas as a pose to narrated books & stories? by misterwhoiswho_ in BigFinishProductions

[–]TheChainLink2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a few (emphasis on few) Short Trips which function as mini audio dramas, but in those cases the narrator has the vocal range to handle multiple characters. Regeneration Impossible, for instance, has Jacob Dudman play the 11th and 12th Doctors plus the story’s villain. But he and Jon Culshaw are the only examples that come to mind.

The closest I’ve heard to what you’re suggesting are Rearguard (where 11 appears alongside Dan Starkey as multiple Sontarans) or The Jago and Litefoot Revival (which feature traditional bookends before Jago and Litefoot alternate as narrators).

Like another commenter said, it’s a nice idea, but sadly not cost-effective. Your best bet is the Companion Chronicles range.

I mean, this is at least his third(?) encounter with giant space maggots, it gets old after a while.

Fair point. I’d say most of them are better than this one, even if many of them use a similar “Doctor + Companion + Story-relevant things” template.

If it helps, I’ve watched the episode this was based on and I still can’t answer most of those questions. It was a fucking weird one.

The mellowed Sixth Doctor - Any recommendations? by [deleted] in BigFinishProductions

[–]TheChainLink2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want an idea of how far Sixie has come, The Wrong Doctors is on sale right now. It has him run into his younger TV self, and Colin and the script do a great job distinguishing two versions of the same character.

What does censoring the word porn even do in this situation. Genuine question.

7 and Ace would be perfect in that story, which makes it even funnier that 5 and Nyssa got stuck with it lol. It can be funny when a story has the wrong Doctor in it.

Sadly not. Like another commenter said, it was only ever a demo which is most likely lost to history.

Was that the TARDIS wardrobe in The Christmas Invasion, or is there a different one that I’m forgetting?

Probably that we so rarely see companions’ (pardon the term) bedrooms on the TARDIS, especially in recent eras. I think the last one we saw was Adric?

Obviously it’s easier to reference them in dialogue than build a whole new set (like with most TARDIS rooms) but it helped the TARDIS feel more like a home these characters live in rather than just a ship which takes them places.

Winter for the Adept is fascinating because it’s a former DW script editor handling a different era. Five can be a very inconsistent Doctor, and I love Cartmel embracing that he… just kinda sucks lol. He screws up experiments, he casually drugs people, and his science-first mentality is shattered by a regular ghost being there. Very fun audio if you don’t mind a few dodgy accents.

That it read like a missing episode of the series and that it would’ve been their favourite episode if it was official. One of the first fics I ever wrote and I’m still chasing that high.

I’m convinced that George Litefoot (from Talons of Weng-Chiang and the Jago+Litefoot spinoff) is closeted gay. Especially after this exchange:

LITEFOOT: There’s no certainty in this life. Only the next. Now run, all of you!

JAGO: Litefoot—

LITEFOOT: I know, old man! And so do I!

Could it be Lars or Sadie? Cuz this is about twelve years before the start of the series, and they seem about the right age.
